Extended Information:
J. Herbin was established in 1670, when Louis XIV, the Sun King, was 32 years old. M. Herbin was a sailor, and from his many journeys to India he brought back to Paris formulas for manufacturing sealing wax. His special lacquer formula improved the quality of the seals in adhesion and neatness, helping him to become famous throughout the kingdom. J. Herbin is also the oldest name in ink production in the world. By 1700, the company was producing 'Encre de la Tete Noire', followed by 'Perle des Encres', (The Jewel of Inks) and 'Encre des Vaisseaux' (The Ink of Ships). J. Herbin made ink for Louis XIV, and a black ink for the sole use of Victor Hugo, author of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Les Miserables. These formulas still reside in the company archives in Paris.

some of my favorite colors September 2, 2010
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Berkeley, CA United States
I love these inks, especially Vert Olive & Eclat de Saphir. The only reason they don't get 5 stars from me is the small amount of ink you get for the price, & the shape of the bottle is not the best either. But that doesn't stop me from buying them :)

These are beautiful inks September 2, 2010
Reviewer: LisaN from Homewood, AL United States
These inks shade beautifully and behave very well in my pens. They lubricate the nibs nicely, and have excellent flow. They dry quickly on the paper, but not in the feed of the pen. The clean out of the pens very easily.

J Herbin Ink September 2, 2010
Reviewer: Tamara from Westminster, CO United States
J. Herbin is one of my favorite inks, but when my local art supply store stopped restocking it, I had to look elsewhere. I love this ink. It's one of the safest inks you can buy, and there is great color variety. If you have a color in mind, J. Herbin usually has it.

The service from Goulet Pen Company was also wonderful! I ordered online while the DC Pen Show was underway, so I knew it would take longer to receive my order than normal. It was nice, however, to receive email notifications throughout the process, telling me when the order would ship and when it had shipped. I didn't have to wonder when it would arrive.

I also received a lovely, handwritten note from Brian - a very nice touch! Personal service can be hard to find, and Brian definitely provides it. The order processing is hands-on, very fast, and not at all stressful.

I recommend both J Herbin ink and the Goulet Pen Company for everyone. You won't be disappointed :)

Poussiere de Lune August 30, 2010
Reviewer: Greg from Dallas, TX United States
OK, here is the deal.  I love these inks and I am drawn to them specifically due to their saturation levels.

Poussiere de Lune is my favorite, the perfect shade of color matched with a perfect saturation level.  But in this perfection lies the rub.  I am having trouble finding a pen in my collection that will balance the viscosity with my hand.

I currently have PdL in a metal Falcon with a medium nib.  It should be a perfect match but the nib runs dry in a way that does not happen with other higher viscosity inks.

Why give this ink high marks?  It has a wonderful effect when on Habana paper and the issue is with my writing style, not the ink.  I will continue to buy the Herbin inks as I rotate them through my other pens to find the perfect match.

I would be interested to read about the successful ink/pen pairings of others.  Thanks to Brian for carrying the products at such a reasonable price.

Lierre Sauvage August 30, 2010
Reviewer: Dominick Glespen from Jacksonville, FL United States
I'm just starting with fountain pens and trying inks. I wanted a nice green and decided to try the  Lierre Sauvage. If the other J. Herbin inks are as good as this, I'll be buying more
