This is a great little sketchbook..particularly like the sizing. the paper could be better for ink/watercolour without to much bleed...but on the whole please with it.

As a sketchbook, meh. |

This paper is excellent. As a sketchbook it's frustrating. One side of each page is toothed with laid ridges, the other side is an even vellum.
That’s not bad if every leaf in the book could be oriented the same way (say, laid on the back and vellum on the front), but that can’t be so. If you choose to use the vellum sides (for example), then your work in the book appears on the left pages for 5 drawings, then the right pages for 5 drawings, then the left...
There's nothing wrong with that per se, but this is packaged as a "presentable" sketchbook. When you've filled it and want to show off your work, your viewer WILL ask why you alternate which side of the page you drew on. After you explain your viewer has lost a little interest in your work and has begun pondering the paper making process.
If you draw with pen or marker or just want an unruled journal, buy 10 now!!! But for those who sketch in a medium that depends on the paper finish, there are better choices out there.

The journal to rule them all... |

After having searched for a journal, no, THE journal, for years, I lucked out and found the Exacompta. Thanks to the incredible kindness of Karen Doherty, 'she who represents Exaclair', I tried this journal and was astounded by the quality of the paper (think G. Lalo Verge) and that great silver edge; a winning combo. Now, to see if RenArt will make me a custom cover!

Lasting Strong |

I've taken my sketchbook though some pretty touch use, and it's still lasting long. I had some reservations about board covers, but they still look new even after months of being jumbled in bookbags, dropped, dragged (lightly), and with heat and cold put onto it (hot coffee cup and cold water glass). The paper is excellent, even when I use a wet writing pen to make several overlapping lines, it doesn't bleed as much as many papers, though "echoing" can be seen and does prevent me from drawing on the backsides of paper (though it may not bother you). All in all though, great paper and tougher than it looks!
