Pilot Metropolitan Fountain Pen - Silver Plain, Fine is rated 4.8846 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I've been waiting for This pen has a really nice weight has the line thickness I've been wanting out of the Metropolitan since I got my first one in a medium nib. This is probably a blasphemous statement, but I can't tell the difference between the fine nib here and the extra fine nib I took from the PIlot Penmanship. It is significantly thinner than the medium. EDIT: Oh wait, I can see the difference between the EF and F nibs. It's much less than the difference between the F and M, but it's there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pilot Metropolitan Fountain Pen - Silver Plain, Fi This is a nice everyday pen. I have the medium in black and liked it but with normal copier paper quality paper it tends to bleed too much. The fine works great on good paper and still keeps line size appropriately small on not so good paper. I bought the CON-50 converter as well. While the included converter is perfectly acceptable, the CON-50 holds more ink and lets you see the ink color and how much ink is remaining. This pen looks nice and writes exceptionally well but you aren't going to cry too much if it slips out of your pocket and you lose it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value pen I've been using my pen with diamine burnt orange to make notes and grade student papers. It's been working fantastically. It's been very smooth and the fine point makes it possible for me to write on the variety of papers that my students use. Also, at $15 dollars its a great value on my grad student budget! I do wish that I had bought the clear converter (not sure the name) with it to know how much ink is left in the pen, but I can get one later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Starter Pen I'm still fairly new to the fountain pen scene, and have only owned Pilot Metros thus far. I'm thoroughly impressed with them, and if this is how a starter/bargain pen writes, then I can't wait to see what other pens have to offer. The fine is definitely very fine, and almost a bit "scratchy," though not so much that it interferes with writing- and a little bit of feedback is to be expected with such a fine nib. The included converter makes it easy to start off with bottled ink, or you can start with the cartridge. Overall, a wonderful pen!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect first fountain pen This pen was my first fountain pen (in medium) and I even bought a second and franken-pen'd it into an extra-fine using the EF nib from a pilot penmanship. But now, with the pen coming available in a fine steel nib, previously only available in the ~$50 Prera...well...I think this may be the perfect entry fountain pen. It has a nice weight and balance, has an amazing fine smooth nib, comes with an ink cartridge and a converter, and the silver and black bodies are classy and understated. (I don't care much for the gold or purple or patterned midsections, but there's no accounting for taste...). I know people like the Lamy Safari, but you can almost buy two metropolitans for the price of the safari. And the metropolitan doesn't have the issue wioth the grip that some have with the Lamy shaped grips. All in all, it's a wonderful pen for beginners and experienced owners alike!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pen This is my first fountain pen and I'm really am happy with it. I just received it today along with a box of Pilot Namiki Blue cartridges. I tested the pen by writing on 4 pages of cheap notebook paper and some cheap inkjet paper and it writes really well. The ink flows nice and evenly, there's no skipping while writing, there's no bleed through to the back side of the paper, and the ink dries quickly. This pen writes well even when you don't press down on the paper. I would recommend this pen to anyone that's looking for their first fountain pen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like it Fits well in the hand; has a nice metal heft to it. Very good pen for under $20 AND it comes with a basic converter. I do find the nib to be "uber-fine" but it is very precise and usable in just about every situation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pilot finally brought out the Metro in fine! The silver finish of this pen is absolutely beautiful! I have a medium nib version in black and I love the fit and finish of both. I have to say though, I much prefer this fine nib, it's perfect for my tiny handwriting! The pen writes nice and smooth and feels like it should cost triple the price. I love this pen so much, and it'll be my daily driver from now on!
