Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome value. I am coming back to fountain pens after over 20 years. I started my journey with a Parker Vector in the late 80s. Back then I knew very little and the only nib size I knew of was a medium. Medium nibs always seemed so 'wet' for my writing style. I always loved the pens but the wetness made it hard for my writing style. Then I found this pen! My world of fountain pens has been blown wide open. I LOVE the fine nib. It flows well and is very easy for a newbie. I also tried the Platinum Preppy pens. This is so much better. It is a great pen for every day carry. This pen is easily worth twice the price. I would recommend this a a great starter pen for anyone interested in the hobby AND for anyone who lacks one in the collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spectacular Value This is my third Pilot Metropolitan, two fine points (green and this red one) and one "white tiger" with the medium nib. If you want to try out a fancy pen without spending a fortune, these things write great, are easy to load and have a really comfortable weight. They're solid metal so they feel very substantial. The finish on these is sort of matte/powder coated and feels great in your hand. (The white tiger is shiny, hard enamel, very classy) I've completely switched all my handwriting and note taking to these three pens and it just feels better. Fancy or something. Like drinking cheap beer out of a fine crystal glass, sometimes its just fun that way. Enjoy it! Note: The Medium nib is pretty thick, - like 1 or 1.2 mm (just based on the way the ink spreads) but just fine for bold handwriting. But the fine points are really nicely fine. Probably like a .5 or .7 mm. You can do some very fine note taking or doodling with them. Other note: This is probably verboten for the real pen-nuts in here, but I keep a little vial of water next to my inkwells to dip my pen in if I haven't written with them for a couple days. I actually use an ink sample vial I got from Goulet. I'd say you get one day of no writing and you're fine, but let them sit upright more than that and you'll need to get the nib wet to get the ink flowing. Just adds to the ritual. Wonderful product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid work pen After reading The Goulet Communiqué Newsletter and saw this featured pen, I thought I would look into it.It's a good pen, but not a great one. But given the price tag, it writes pretty well and is pretty reliable as well. I can count on it , but don't rely on it. If your looking for an affordable pen with some neat colorways, this would be a good start.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pilot metropolitan I have so far enjoyed using the fountain pen. However, I do have small hands so the pen gets top heavy if posted.
