Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful gray I've been looking for a great gray for a few months and I've finally found it! I'm currently using it in a Jinhao 159 with a Goulet 1.1 stub and it comes out gorgeous on Maruman Mnemosyne paper. It's got a touch of blue in it, so it can look similar to Shin-Kai (another color I love) on some papers. Like other Iroshizuku inks, the name truly does represent the color because it reminds me of the heavy winter clouds you see before it snows. I get a touch of feathering from time to time if the ink comes out too wet, but not bad and definitely no show through. As with all Iroshizuku inks, it is expensive, but I've come to rationalize this part of my life! :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from light gray Used on white Rhodia paper with a fine pilot capless FP nib. Color goes from very light gray to medium gray. It might be because I used a fine nib, writing with an inconsistant speed. Some -fast writen words- are way too light to my taste. You may want to look around for visual-reviews of this ink. If you write fast, with a very fine nib, on nice white rhodia paper, you'll need to like very light grays to like this one. I haven't tried it with a medium or broad nib, it should get out better / darker. Otherwise, no ink problems (bleedthrough, etc.) with that ink-paper-pen combo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very unique ink The fuyu-syogun is a truly unique ink. I've given it 4 stars only because of the fact that it's so unique that it may not be a good all-around choice (office, letters, personal notes). The color is very similar to a well tamed pencil after drying. For official business documents, it would probably be a little less than desirable. However, for almost anything else, it's a joy to write with. The extra darkness at starts and stops makes this pencil-look-a-like a real compelling ink. You'll look at it and assume it's pencil then quickly do a double take and note its smoothness, evenness, and subtle shadings and realize it's definitely not. It's a very smooth ink like other Iroshizuku and is a joy to write with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Man Awesome This is, bar none, my favorite ink. I had been searching for a perfect gray (tried Noodler's Lexington Gray - it was nice but too dark for my tastes, and tried the de Artementis Silver Grey (Communion Grey) - almost right, then tried Lexington Gray mixed with Whiteness of the Whale - even better than the Silver Grey), but Fuyu-syogun is perfection. The slightest bit blue, but nothing like a watered-down black, it flows like butter. What is not to love?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interesting color! The color is very interesting! It look very different depends what kind of pen I use. It can be light grey with a hint of blue, darker grey with a hint of blue, darker grey with no hint of blue, etc. I have used F nib, M nib, Stub nib, and Flex nib with this ink, they all came out differently.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too Cold As the name suggests, this is a "wintry" ink. It is a gray that leans heavily toward a cold bluish feel. I thought I'd like it, but discovered I prefer Kiri-Same which is much warmer gray. Like all Pilot inks, this one is well behaved and nicely lubricated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pilot Iroshizuku Fuyu-soyogun Very lovely ink. I love the winter cloud-laden sky and this color matches perfectly the feel of one of those cold, sunless, melancholy days that are perfect for reading. I recently used it on some Ivory G. Lalo Verge paper and it was very appealing. Probably not an every day ink, but for those grey moods you want to convey, it is a beautiful ink.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good I got this after getting a bottle of the Tsuki-yo ink, which is by far my favorite. A beautiful gray, but fairly light, to the point where it was illegible if there was any bleed through on the other side of the paper with a darker ink. I'll likely save it for using only by itself. Still, beautiful.
