Pelikan Royal Blue 4001 (2oz Bottled Ink) is rated 4.6667 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good and bad It's "dry". In a Prera Med it's reliably coming out, no skipping, feels fine to write with, but mind the swab, this is a pretty washed out blue. Not great for photocopying. With the Prera. In some of my other pens including most Pelikans, with a flow annoyingly wet with many boutique inks, this is much nicer to use and wet pens make a darker line. No bleed thru on moleskine, impressive. Makes a nice blue-black 6:1 with pelikan black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An ink with its own personality I have a lot of fountain pens and a lot of different inks. Brian has in his catalog some of the best inks available, but Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue ink has some special characteristics that make it very valuable depending on your needs. The color of Pelikan Royal Blue falls into the category of true blues, with a great tone similar to Diamine Majestic Blue, but more brilliant. It's a bit darker than Noodler's Blue and also similar to Waterman's Florida Blue, but richer in tone and a bit darker. The main characteristic though is not the color (that is really pleasant and versatile), is that it's a very "dry" ink. I use it with a couple of pens that tend to be too wet and could produce feathering and show on the back of the paper. Pelikan has solved those problems. It's like suddenly you are using a different pen. If you have a pen that is too wet for your taste, try Pelikan. Great ink. Plus, you get the best service available from Goulet Pen Co. Thanks Brian.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good reliable ink This is an ink thats not designed to be too flashy or crazy but what it does - it does it great. I use it in a Pelikan M205 which is a very wet pen, and this ink shines in it. It shades absolutely amazingly with it and is one of the better looking blues I have. Its a bright blue that does have some character to it. All in all this is a good behaving ink, flows good in wet pens but drier pens might have some issues (the ink is considered dry), shades pretty well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I do love my Pelikan It is a medium blue with a hint of purple, a bit on the lighter side (not as saturated as some), but flows without question, and smoothly at that. This is a staple for my collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pelikan Royal Blue A lovely sapphire blue that bears a striking resemblance to some other inks that are far more expensive. If you're looking for the perfect blue ink, you should give this a try.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An old Fav What's there to say, it's Pelikan Royal Blue or Koingsblau. It's a nice safe ink for just about any pen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My daily staple blue Rich and vivid without being too bright. Well-behaved in all pens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent blue, but great mixing ingredient This is the blue I start with when I am experimenting with mixing inks. So far, my favorite recipe is 1 part water, 2 parts Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black, and 14 parts Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue.
