Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Black Ink As both an artist and a writer I pretty much always have a pen in my hand and X-Feather is my indispensable "every day" ink for everything from drawing to writing quick notes on the back of envelopes. I have it loaded into three different pens, including the .5 technical pen I use for fine detail work. I purchased it based on two factors: 1. It's a non-feathering ink which is a prime consideration for drawing in pen and ink. 2. The amazingly deep and rich blackness, it's one of the best I've seen. Despite the warning that this isn't a fast drying ink, as a left-handed writer I've never had a problem with smearing or smudging except on slick receipt paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Excellent Ink I have been using this ink for a couple of weeks in my Lamy Safari. I started with a medium nib. It was way too broad. I then used an extra fine nib. Nice thin line but just a tad scratchy and dry. I must purchase a fine nib with my next buy. Not a problem with the ink. Just me learning my pens, inks, and nibs. Last week it rained sideways here and I was working. I used this ink on some cheap paper a work. I wrote about 3 lines. The paper was exposed to the rain for about 3 or 4 minutes. The paper was trashed but you could read everything I had written. This ink gets 5 stars from me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from X-feather As an ecologist I need a reliable, permanent, waterproof ink when I'm making out my notes in the field. After trying many, this is the only ink I have found that does not feather or separate. Its waterproof and dark, which is what I need. It went on a bit thick and first, but switching to a finer pen fixed this and let me use for text as well as sketches. A little bleed on cheap paper, but problem eliminated with finer nib and better paper. Slow to dry, but not a problem with care, and in the desert, where I often work, I have no problems. I use this ink for everything now. How about a blue?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Note Takers Ink This is a phenomenal ink for taking notes in nearly every situation, only because I have not yet tried every situation. I am using this in a Lamy Safari with an EF nib and it is my everyday note taking and doodling pen. It works very well on every paper I have used it with from copy paper to Clarefontaiin. If you are looking for a good dark ink to use when taking notes this is a great for you, and me. This allows me to use a fountain pen in nearly every instance where I am writing, only when making multiple copies do I need to use a different pen. I would really like to see this come out in a blue to take care of those areas that need to see the original.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lives up to the name and black as Stalin's soul I work with kids with developmental disabilities and that requires me to use a waterproof ink (since some of them have a tendency to spill water, milk, etc on the paperwork I do as part of my job). I got this based on a recommendation from a friend and even on the cheap copy paper we use, it does not feather or bleed and it has zero shading except on glossy receipt paper (and even then it is still waterproof). As for cleaning, it is a highly saturated ink so it isn't going to be as easy as something like waterman to clean out, but I found it to be easier to clean than any Private Reserve ink that i have tried (and that stuff isn't even waterproof). I have a feeling that this will be the first of many X-Feather bottles I will be purchasing. Good job Nathan!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is it! I use ink in so many places and ways, and have been looking for a standard I can use most of the time for most things. Most fountain pen inks, even waterproof ones, don't build up enough of their own surface tension to allow other inks, particularly white inks, to sit on top. I need that ability when making drawings and cartoons I may scan later, because white manga ink is the "correction fluid" of choice for its flatness. Everything is about creating scannable art in the world of comics and cartoons. Yes, there are pigment inks formulated for fountain and brush pens but most fountain pen users will warn you to use only disposable pens with these inks. So... X-feather is my ink of choice for travel, for writing on many kinds of paper, for making thin black lines without feathering, as advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ink for Students. For a college student with a budget on paper, this ink is great. I use this with a Lamy EF nib and with a dip pen, and this ink never bleeds, feathers, etc. I've heard of some complaining that it takes a little long to dry, but I've never found that to be the case, even with a dip pen (which is a good bit wetter than most fountain pens). I would recommend this ink for anyone looking to use a fountain pen on a daily basis. And Goulet's care and customer service in delivery are second to none.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ink! Admittedly I am a novice when it comes to inks, but this has to be a great one! With the purchase of the 4.5oz container I was able to also receive a free Platinum Preppy eyedropper which I am using in conjunction with this ink to great effect. The high flown "no feather" claim holds true and I find this ink great for writing on "bad" paper at places like school. For the person who travels at lot or has to work in the office, but refuses to sacrifice the pleasure of writing with a fountain pen, I would recommend this ink. However, one word of warning for lefties - this ink has longer drying time in my experience! It shouldn't bother you by the time you reach the next line of your paper, but if you're the kind of person whose hand drags across the page you may want to look for a faster drying ink.
