Noodler's Operation Overlord Orange (3oz Bottled Ink) is rated 4.3636 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this ink! Noodlers Operation Overlord has a range of hues from a deep blood orange to pale yellow-orange depending on the nib. I bought it to match a new Jinhao 159 Orange. Drying time varies, slow if used with a dip pen & wider nib. I'll be using this for drawing as well as in the new pen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for attention-getting This ink works very well as an alternative for red ink, both if you grade papers or for notes where you need some text to jump out. It works well with red, as well, if you need to differentiate or alternate your "notice me" colors. It's a good medium orange--not too bright or eye-burning-- and does not seem to fade even after 6 months, which is the oldest sample I have. There is only a little smearing if you are left handed, and it has the normal amount of bleed-through for average fountain pen ink, which is not too much on decent paper. The bottle is also pretty cool, I admit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very orangey. Hey, If you like orange, then you will love this one. I thought that it might be a little bit more subtle, but it's kinda wild. I worship Noodler's for their historic/patriotic take on the American products they make. Kudos to them. The ink flows well in my Noodler's Ahab pen. There are no problems. Get it! Best, RO

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Operation Overlord Orange Much to my surprise, this is one of my favorite inks. It has enough presence to be very legible, and is a nice, deep rich color that perfectly matches the caramelizing in some of my vintage pens. And the name is pleasantly goofy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great for drawing I use this ink for drawing - I wanted a lighter value that would combine with other colors in a new way. The water resistance was important to me, as I layer watercolor over pen drawings and the orange is sufficiently waterproof that it stays put.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gorgeous but clogs constantly I really, really want to like this ink. The color is great--my bottle is a bit darker and richer than the screen sample shown. It shows some nice shading from a Goulet F nib on my equally orange Jinhao 159, and was a good daily writer through an EF nib. It even has a fascinating smell like Averna liqueur! But by golly does it want to clog up. Leaving it alone overnight meant a dry start in the morning, and as more and more dried ink would start gunking up the slit and sides and even underside of the nib, it would dry up if I quit writing for just a few minutes. In the attached photo, you can see I had to prime it back up quite a bit before I could write (and even that was in fits and starts for a few lines) after I had just written a paragraph 15 minutes earlier. I got a couple of the V-Mail series for their water resistance, and the Midway Blue so far does not have this problem at all--in fact that ink is quite wet no matter what I do. But this batch of Operation Orange just won't get off the ground all too often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful color! Ink flows smoothly and colors are just what one has come to expect from Noodler's. Highly recommended, as is this web site. Delivery was prompt, service is friendly-I'd heap more praise, but then people might think I own stock in the company!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consistent orange, nice shading I have sampled a lot of oranges, and this one is the most consistent writer I've used. A lot of oranges gum up the feed and require hard starts and frequent cleaning, but this one does fine as long as I write with the pen every couple of days. It also has a lot more shading than I expected, even with an EF nib! I find it's a bit darker than what the ink swab suggests, and I really like it.
