Noodler's Neponset Acrylic Flex Fountain Pen - Ghostly Lapis

The Neponset is a glimpse back in time to an era of legacies and war heroes.

The New England Airship company, later renamed the Dartmouth Airship Co., the first of its kind in the United States, had a new CEO during a challenging time for our country. During the year of 1929 Nathan’s grandfather became CEO and one year later christened a new airship named the Neponset.

The shape of the Neponset pen is similar to the dirigible and is constructed of a beautiful white and blue acrylic resin. The Neponset is fitted with a three tined music nib, the "Vishnu Victory" nib in honor of the 2.5 million World War II allied soldiers of India as well as the reference to the source for the ebonite used in the pen and the original Neponset Blimp.

The flexible steel 3-tined music nib has a velvet pen stroke with the ability to greatly vary the line width to the user's liking.

We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, expect some variation in the pattern from what you see here. But hey, that just makes each pen unique!

Noodler's Neponset Acrylic Flex Fountain Pen - Ghostly Lapis is rated 4.8571 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful body, large pen. Great size if you love big pens. The pen is a few centimeters bigger than a LAMY Al-Star/Safari and the circumference isn't that much of a difference. The grip is actually pretty average despite the body size. The size of the pen is needed though, because the ink capacity of this instrument is monstrous! You'll need it though, because this pen is a pretty wet writer. Expect to let your ink dry for a period of time. The nib is not super flexible, and I compare it to a very stiff dip pen nib. Expect hand fatigue if you're wanting to use the full flex of this pen over a long writing session. The ink keeps up to most paper types, but I've had the most success with papers from Midori and Tomoe River paper. Rhodia tends to make it railroad more? Probably because of the lack of absorbency... Anyways! Overall, a good beginner pen. :) Would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great steel music nib I've had the Neponset for a few days and have inked it with Noodler's el Lawrence and used cheap copy paper and Rhodia dotpads paper. The music nib and feed has never railroaded, but does take some pressure for the widest line variation. The pen is not a very smooth writer but has a great feel to it when writing and I am seriously contemplating buying more Neponsets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A nice surprise! I've been wanting a Neponset for awhile and with the free bottle of Noodler's ink, just couldn't pass it up.I was hesitate to get the Ghostly L finish but so glad i did. It's really nice looking .I did make an adjustment on the nib/feed putting it in with the position of the word ink on the nib about 2 mm above the grip section. Now this guy is a real beast,a ink devouring dragon. It can bleed through, especially on cheaper paper.I don't have to flex to get some good line variation and it's fairly smooth.I like the history behind this pen and really enjoy using it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Beautiful Pen! I received this pen from my wife for Christmas and I really really like it! The nib and feed were almost impossible to get out at first. This made it hard to adjust to my liking. I did eventually get it out, but almost ruined the feed. Fortunately everything turned out ok. The flex is very nice. Wet, no railroading even after a good bit of writing. The acrylic is beautiful! I read reviews complaining about the size of this pen, but I like it and I have small hands. Overall, an awesome pen! Not a daily writer, but I very much enjoy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Pen I love everything about this pen. I have essential tremors and I practice my calligraphy, in part, to improve my fine motor skills. The size of this pen works perfectly. The music nib responds well regardless of that moment's tremor severity. I will buy another...deciding on color...but I love the Ghostly Lapis. I use the Noodler's red/black. I like the look, and I think it also shows off the nib.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Writer, Reasonable -- Ink Experimentation Made it a Keeper This is my second Neponset. I find the size fun. I purchased the Ghostly Lapis with a 1.1. I flushed this pen thoroughly with Goulet's perfect pen flush and then flushed that. Waited 24 hours and loaded up Diamine's Eau de Nil. The pen did not write (is this the writer?!) although drops of ink could be forced through. I made a video and was going to send it to Brian but then I thought -- I should empty it out and try another blue. I tried Pilot's asa-gao and voila! Smooth, no hitches. I like the nib although there is not a lot of variation. The ink takes a bit longer to dry on Rhodia than my Mp journal paper. And the asa-gao is a nice ink to match the pen's colors (which are iridescent here and there on the post & barrel). I am hoping to Noodler's Liberty Elysium will also work out as that would be a nice ink match to the pen as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good flex Can make nice variations in line. Easy to clean and not precious so it's relaxing and fun to use.
