Noodler's Konrad Acrylic Flex Fountain Pen - Bengal Tiger

The Konrad Acrylic flex pen was introduced in early 2013 - it is smaller than the Ahab, but larger than the Nib Creaper. It features a steel flexible #6 nib and a twist piston mechanism with a blind cap. The Konrad Acrylic is made of acrylic acetate.

The Noodler's flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted and heat set for optimal performance. Don't be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, expect some variation in the pattern from what you see here. But hey, that just makes each pen unique!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Noodler's Konrad Acrylic Flex Fountain Pen - Bengal Tiger is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Real Tiger! There are actually several tiger eye, or tiger swirl finishes on the market--but the Konrad Tiger glows, and you get a section that is the same color as the barrel and cap, unlike the usual black. the piston blind cap is seamless with the barrel, and of course the mechanism works well. Remember, you can disassemble this pen for cleaning and maintenance. I really think the Konrad Acrylic is an incredible deal and a beautiful, well-designed fountain pen. I think I know have six! does not seem like enough!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beauty and function As I find it to be so with Noodler's other Konrad Acrylics, the BT is fun to hold, delightful to use and visually pleasing. I especially enjoy "customizing" the nib/feed to suit my need for more or less ink trace on the page.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this pen I have found this pen to be excellent in comparison to Ahab, other Konrad and Creaper. Both this and the Creaper seem to have dependable nibs and ink flow, but this pen fits my hand better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Started at 3 stars and now one of my favorite pens - it's like a gateway drug to more fun I bought this to try out flex nibs and honestly to see what the hubub was all about regarding Noodler's pens. I'm relatively new to fountain pens but I have a few gold nib fountain pens so I had a point of reference. When I got the pen, the tip was bent badly. I called into Goulet and they were amazing, shipped me out a replacement nib no charge. At first try, the replacement nib was a little scratchy, more scratchy than the stub nibs and extra fine nibs of my Pilot Prera and Lamy pens. I realized we're supposed to tinker. I decided to heat set (because it takes 3 minutes) and try my hand at tuning a nib. I purchased the tuning kit from Goulet and an extra nib in case I messed it up. I watched a few youtube videos on tuning and used the tools - Well, what a difference! The nib is smooth now, not 14K smooth, but close. All of this with about 5 minutes work and no sweat. I have now tuned a couple of my other steel nib pens and they are all much smoother. I wouldn't have had the kahoonas to try this had I not purchased the Konrad. It is my go to pen basic pen (always in my bag) and it looks fantastic. I bought a Neponset as a result of this experience and now I'm looking at vintage flex to see what that hubub is all about... Just a warning, these pens are a gateway drug to experimenting and getting your fingers a little... inky. I've learned as a result of less than 10 minutes of tuning and now I feel confident in aligning my nibs and tuning so there's that....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Noodler's Acrylic Konrad - Bengal Tiger My tiger variation is a bit darker with a combination of blurred and crisp black lines. The combination makes the highlights really shine. The pen looks like it would feel fuzzy. I love the feel of this pen. Versatile writer that lets me go from fine to flexy and back. Completely disassemble for thorough cleaning. Ebonite feed can be adjusted. Piston can be used to expel air when ink is low.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this pen and the customer service from Goulet Pen I really love this pen with a few minor caveats. However, big kudos' to Goulet Pens 4 stars for the features of the Noodler's Konrad. My pen writes smoothly with very little/no scratchiness. The line is a little closer to medium than fine, but that depends on the quality of the paper. Filling the pen with ink is a little less than optimal for me. To fill it, you have to dip the entire nib and beyond into ink. Because of this, some of the ink gets into the pen near the nib. After filling, I clean the nib and ink doesn't get on my fingers afterwards. So that's a good thing. Still, there's some discoloration on the pen from the ink that I can't seem to clean out. 5 stars for the size of the pen.I have smaller hands. This pen is not too big and not too small. It fits perfectly. I was worried that the Ahab might be too big. I'm very please with the Konrad 5 stars for aesthetics. This is truly a beautiful pen. The colors are bright and, as another reviewer said, it looks like the pen could be fuzzy to the touch. I love it. 5+++++ stars for Goulet Pens. For some reason the Konrad Bengal Tiger I received did not post. Goulet pens replaced it with no questions asked and with no cost to me, THANK YOU SO MUCH Overall rating: 5. I know that can buy similarly priced items from Amazon. But customer service is very important, as is supporting small businesses. My positive experience with Goulet Pens means that anytime I want to buy a pen-related item, I will go to Goulet first.
