Noodler's Borealis Black (3oz Bottled Ink) is rated 4.5217 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Black This ink is very black. It is blacker than Noodler's regular black or Heart of Darkness. It's dark! I would like to say that I love this ink. However, it also tends to be quite slow drying on higher quality paper. Luckily, on lower quality paper, it doesn't seem to feather much and dries quickly. Unfortunately, on the lower quality paper it also seems to bleed through. This ink is not bulletproof. I won't say it washes off the page, but it definitely runs a lot. This ink has a place in my collection, but it is not a favorite.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nib/Pen Sensitive I bought this from a friend who had used it in his Lamy. I used it to fill my Lamy EF Al-Star at work, but my other pens were kept filled with Noodlers BP Black. For 3 years I thought both inks behaved the same, using it on office copy paper and cheap notebook paper daily where it did fine. When I retired I brought it home but used BP Black until today. I filled my Vac-700 with a Goulet 1.1 mm nib with Borealis Black. Wow, was it wet and black. Bleed through on notebook and copy paper was bad! Feathering too. Flowed wet, jet black. Worked very well on Rhodia paper but dry time was long. The same pen/nib with Noodler's BP Black did not bleed through even cheap notebook paper. If you want fast dry time and no bleed through/feathering use this ink in EF or F nibs or in a very dry pen/nib combo. Understand its limitations. I will stick with Noodler's BP Black for most of my black ink needs. This is a smooth writing ink. Hard to wash off fingers!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Blackety Black This is a conventional (not "bulletproof") water-resistant ink, and it's very dark black. I like it, but I do find it suffers a bit more feathering and strike-through than Noodler's Dark Matter. I also found, somewhat to my surprise, that I prefer the slate gray-black tone of Dark Matter over the blackety-black of Borealis.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Blue-Black-Green Very Black! Period. Runs great, looks great. BUT - has the longest dry time of any ink I own even on Rhodia paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ink and good pen Firstly, this ink i great. I am left-handed, so a quick drying ink is a necessity, and this fits the bill quite nicely. The ink is a very very deep black and once dried, is pretty water resistant. Its not bulletproof, but for taking notes and such it works fantastically. Secondly, the free pen is pretty awesome. Its just an eyedropper pen, but the nib was smooth and it writes like a champ. No problems with the pen whatsoever. All in all, this is a great ink that would be worth the money even without the free pen. Buy with confidence!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fair but there are better This is a direct competitor to the Aurora Black. I like the ink, but it does bleed through on anything but top notch paper. It is fairly wet and lubricates well. It is an admirably dark, high contrast black, and the lines don't bleed at the edges once on the paper, but it does tend to soak through the paper. A good ink with the properly calibrated nib, but Aurora "just works", so I think I'll stick with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blackest ink ever? I can't say for sure, but it is probably the blackest I have ever used. In pens that write wet, the noodler's and lazy 2000, for example, it is almost a little too thick...but in my extrfine Twsbi, which is relatively dry, it is fantastic!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Borealis Black When it works, it's great. Nice true black color and flows well once it gets going. But if you leave it in your pen for awhile for more than a day or two with no use, it drys out and clogs the nib. Slow to start with inactivity. Seems to skip for some time after drying too. Love the free pen that came with it, but wouldn't buy again just for the ink.
