Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses (3oz Bottled Ink) is rated 4.827 out of 5 by 237.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Noodlers Ink Is Indispensable The range of colours is far more extensive than any other ink manufacturer I know of. The quality and value is outstanding. And Noodlers ink just seems to perform better. My pens glide more smoothly across the paper, I have less trouble even on cheap paper (with the exception of show through on thin sheets, which has nothing at all to do with the ink), and I my feeds don't get gummed up as easily. And the Black Swan in Australian Roses I got this time is a really unique colour, one I enjoy using. (OK, I enjoy using all the Noodlers colours I've tried so far.) With all that, using bottled ink is much more economical than cartridges.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black Swan - No Special Effects (Yet) But Nice This is my 3rd Noodler's ink. First was Baystate Blue. (Hate it; anyone want to trade?). Second was Noodler's Blue Eel. (Love it.) I was intrigued by the idea of an ink that writes darker on the edges. So far I've only put it in one pen - my Aurora Optima with 14k factory italic nib. Nice nib with a bit of flex. Well, I have not duplicated any special effects. I do get nice shading, excellent glide, and I like the color. I had really been enjoying MB Lavender Purple in that pen, but Black Swan is going to stay for a while. Nice rich color. I'm told it is fairly close to Diamine Syrah. But at $12.50 a bottle, Black Swan's not a bad substitute.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a wonderful color, but ..... I have been intrigued by the name of this ink for a while now, but didn't get a chance to try it until it came to me in the October Ink Drop. It is a surprisingly tasty color, kind of a plum, but it doesn't flow out of the pen the way I like. Using a Lamy Vista with Medium steel nib, which normally flows like crazy. According to the fabulous new chart, it is not 'lubricated'. It is almost exactly the same color (in my swatches) as Diamine Merlot. I shall try it in another pen, but may spring for the Merlot for better flow. Just love the name like crazy, though I couldn't make any sense out of Nathan's video. Just a fabulous color, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful ink I use it with an Ahab or regular Flex Nib from Noodler's. Takes forever to dry on Clairfontaine notebooks- drys on top of the paper sort of, and still smudges a day later. Several days later, no smudging. Not that you would, but furious notetaking with this ink on Clairfontaine is a smudge-fest. But for correspondence, etc, it will really let people know you are using a fountain pen. It is a light pink when it goes on very fine and dry, to a deep burgundy when heavily shaded. Probably great for artists too, but I haven't tried.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ink - all the way from the USA to Thailand. I ordered this along with one of the new fangled Noodler flex nib pens. I was despairing returning to Thailand, as there is nary a drop of Noodler's ink in sight (with perhaps the sole exception of the bottles I've brought back with me from overseas). I have now found a perfect place from which to order them! (and they surely are worth getting, even if from the other side of the world). They were sent out and I received them in a week! The ink itself is great, and would recommend this wonderful colour (and this seller) to all and any who would ask.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the 2014 version I was so curious about the new version that, erm, happened this year so I ordered a bottle even though I also have the original version of this ink. I really like them both. The New version have a dramatic purple to it and is quite different than the original. However, it is still a very nice ink and it feels the same as the original when writing. All the properties seem intact as far as I can see. If you like the color, I can really recommend this ink as it is now. I'll use my ration of the original colour very carefully, but cherish them both

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like the color; hate the drying time The color is great. The drying time is longer than, say Diamine Syrah. Black Swan is water resistant; Syrah isn't. So, if you have the time to let the ink dry, and you watch out that your hand doesn't smear what was written before, and you like the color, it's a great ink; however, if you don't care about waterproofing your writing, and you want want to have something that is close in color but has a much faster drying time, an ink like Diamine Syrah works.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too dry for narrow nibbed pens. This is the second sample of this ink that we've tried. The first sample (received as part of a monthly Ink Drop shipment) just didn't perform well in our pens and we decided not to order this ink. After several months, we decided to order another sample to see if maybe the first was a bit "off" since our impressions didn't match the bulk of those online. The second sample matched the first. This ink pretty much requires a wet writing, wider nib width to really work well. Our pen collection tends to the narrower nib widths and this ink just doesn't seem to work well with them. It tends to the dry side, not providing much lubrication, and the narrow widths don't let this ink's shading properties come through. Overall, we weren't too happy with this ink and we won't be ordering any more of it.
