Maruman Mnemosyne
Maruman Mnemosyne N195 A5 Notebook - Lined (5.94 x 8.23) is rated 4.1111 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love this notebook It's smooth and I like how it's broken up into sections. Love the option for the title, though it's a bit large. I don't mind it though. Ink can be a bit slow to dry so I'm not sure it would be great for lefties. I don't have a problem with bleed through. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is I can't write with my Lamy 1.5mm italic on it. It may just be the ink, Noodler's Ottoman Azure, but it won't dry fast enough. My Italix Parson's Essential medium italic is fine though. Like I said in the title, I love this pad and will continue to buy over and over. Just wish I could use the 1.5MM italic on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I got two of these notebooks and I love the paper in them. It is as smooth as Rhodia and holds ink nicely. All I have seen so far is a little shadow on the opposite side. It does not bleed through, even with flex pens. Overall a really great paper.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Awful!!! It's puzzling because, Maruman's Boston line was utter perfection. Though, for some reason it was discontinued in favour of these Mnemosyne notebooks which jump at the chance to bleed your ink through. Even when using a quality gel ink pen, sometimes writing on the other side of the page can be unfeasible. Additionally, the covers are flimsy and the coils are weak sauce.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid daily use notebook I've been testing notebooks to find the one best suited to my daily work notes. I take notes while on phone calls with suppliers and clients. I like the size; not too big where it overtakes the work space, yet has sufficient writing area. The section at the top of each page for the date and title is nice because I like to date each page. Paper quality is good. Smooth and does not bleed. I use various fountain pens, but mostly it is a Lamy Safari fine point with Noodler's Black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite notebook I've had several Mnemosyne notebooks in several sizes and love them all. The paper is silky smooth and I have never once had any bleed-through (which is saying a lot, because all of my fountain pens write very wet and still the paper holds it well and the reverse is ready for a clean, new page of writing). This paper is IMHO a perfect balance of smoothness without being slick; I have some pens that do NOT like to write on super-slick paper like Clairefontaine and Rhodia and none of them balk at Mnemosyne. The only tiny down-side I can think of is that if your hands have recently had lotion applied, then the paper where you've touched it will show some feathering. I use a scrap piece of paper under my palm when I write, since I use hand lotion frequently. I really can't possibly recommend this line enough. :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not sure who this is for but it isn't me. So the main reason why I got this paper was because I am desperate to find something that is close to Clairefontaine without the cheesy cover colors. I use my paper for journaling and note taking in a professional setting. I have a very specific set of needs for paper and notebook layout and was hoping this would meet my needs for note taking. My needs are as follows: 1 Must be close to A5 size to carry in my binder 2 Must be FP friendly (nothing too wet or nibs too big but it has to play nice for general use) 3 Must be side bound with a spiral so I can flip it and expose a single, flat page 4 Must have a line layout that is easy to see and takes advantage of the page space. 5 Must be able to be used on both sides (little ghosting and no bleed through) The current reining champ is the Clairefontaine spiral bound that has the margin. These requirements are a MUST have. My work is exact (work in the mental health field) and the notes that I take during the day absolutely must be legible and intact. So How does this notebook stack up: 1. A5 size, fits in my binder with no problem and I like the sturdy cover it has. 2. Can get a little fuzzy with a wet pen and I don't think I would trust it with a gusher or a larger nib than say a western M. 3. Nice binding with a sturdy double spiral that lays well. 4. This is where we start to plunge rapidly into uselessness. The date line is nice but I don't need it to be as big as it is. I lose a lot of page real-estate to the 1.25 inches of title spacing on ever page. The lighter lines are kind of nice. Not useful for me but they work fine. I don't get the darker break lines. They give me the impression I should only write three topics on each page and they better not go over the 8 lines given on each section. No margin though I could live without the margin if it was the only problem I had. 5. Little ghosting but nothing I can't live with and I haven't seen any bleeding. The paper is a nice off white. It isn't a sheet of glass but it's nice paper. All in all I would have no problems using this notebook for work notes and maybe even journaling if it wasn't for the gigantic title space on each page especially with it being 3 dollars cheaper than the no margin Clairefontaine and having a few more sheets than it does. The layout just kills it for me. This is a great notebook for someone. No idea who.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great steal Nice notebook my wife snatched immediately. It works well with most fountain pen inks and gives almost perfect balance between allowing ink to shine and dry time. With most inks other side is perfectly usable. There is some feathering near the edges but it might be just my copy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect These are well made, sturdy notebooks with silky smooth paper that is wonderful with fountain pens. I have bought many of Mnemosyne notebooks of different styles and every one was just what I wanted for writing and notes.
