Lamy LX Fountain Pen - Rose Gold, Medium

This all-new Lamy LX ("Luxe") fountain pen features a body made from rose gold-colored double-anodized aluminum, a rose gold-coated clip, a translucent grey triangular grip section, and a black glossy steel nib in medium. There are lot of subtle details on the LX as an enhancement over the similar Al-Star model, including matching metal accents on the cap end and barrel end with a shiny diamond polish, a glossy Lamy logo on the barrel, and the laser engraving on the nib. While slightly different than the other Lamy steel nibs, they are indeed swappable. This pen comes with a matching rose gold-colored anodized aluminum pen case.

This fountain pen comes with an ink cartridge to get you started writing right away! Requires a Lamy Z24 or Z28 converter to use bottled fountain pen ink (sold separately).

Lamy LX Fountain Pen - Rose Gold, Medium is rated 4.6667 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value, beautiful color! I thought I would provide clarification from the first review. This isn't supposed to be "pink" its Rose Gold. For those of you who love Rose Gold. It IS the color of Rose Gold. It's beautiful. I cannot verify the writing feel of the nib just yet as I am waiting to give it as a gift to my wife. Essentially its an AL-Star with better finishing, better color, and a nice little holder capsule. Great quality pen for the price, and a great buy. Get one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A rosy, golden gem of a pen! Not having any luck finding this pen for sale in the UK, I ordered from the trusty Goulet Pens, 1 week later and the pen arrived safely in the UK! The pen itself did not disappoint, the colour of the pen is a true rose gold and it writes like a dream (this is my second Lamy pen in my collection). Teamed with J Herbin's Rose D'Ancre (I have a habit of wanting to match my ink to the barrel of the pen) it is now my favourite writing instrument.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quite what I expected Received my rose gold Lamy LX medium nib this morning and have been testing it out, so here are my first impressions. 1. Color -- It is not as pink as it appears in the photos. Except for the clip, it looks much more beige gold than rose gold. For those who thought this pen might be too pink for their tastes, it probably isn't. It's an overcast day here, but in natural light it has a pinkish cast, but most eyes will read this pen as pale gold. For me, I was hoping it would look as pink as it does in the photos, but it's still attractive, so I can deal. 2. Nib -- Whatever Lamy has made or coated the LX nib with gives it a very different feel from the Vistas, Safaris, and Al-Stars I have. This nib is clearly marked "M" but writes like a Fine and has as much feedback as my EF nib. I'm not sure I'd call it scratchy, but it's not nearly as smooth as my other Lamys. I've tried it with several different inks -- J. Herbin, Iroshizuku, R&K, and Diamine -- and it writes best with a wetter ink. With the Diamine, it almost wrote like a medium. I flossed it to see if I could open it up a bit and the tines were so tight that they actually shaved off some of the brass. I am hoping this nib will loosen up and smooth out with some use, but if I'd tried this pen in the store, I'm not sure I'd have bought it. It may just be the nib on this particular pen, but if all the LX M nib are like this, the F may behave more like an EF. 3. Cleaning -- All the other Lamys I've bought have been perfect out of the box, but the nib on this one needed cleaning. Even after rinsing it, there was black residue inside the nib and some on the feed. It came off with a wet paper towel. Again, I expect it is something to do with the nib material, or more likely the coating. Overall, this is still a beautiful pen, and I don't regret the purchase. It has lovely details, and the case alone makes it worth the price, in my view. The nib is the biggest deficiency here. Whatever Lamy did to make the LX nib look appealing or different from their standard Al Star nib did not improve its performance. I like my nibs buttery smooth. If you like some feedback or have always thought Lamy nibs were too wet, this may be the pen for you. For those expecting performance typical of a Safari or Al Star nib, be aware that this one might need some tinkering. Quality control in manufacturing being what it is, this particular nib might be glitchy, so I'll be interested to hear what others have to say about the LX. If you like the look of this pen or collect Al-Stars, I still recommend getting it. Despite the nib not being just what I expected, I am planning on getting a Palladium one as well. I expect its performance will improve with use (and maybe some smoothing). If it doesn't, I'll just change out the LX nib for a regular black one and still have a great looking pen. As always, Goulet's customer service was flawless.
