Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ink I love the color shading from black to dusky purple. That alone is nice. Water-fastness of the I-G Content is a bonus. Flushes out of a pen very quickly and easily, even better. Feathering? Bleedthrough? Absolutely none on any paper that is better grade than paper towels! I put a drop of ink on super cheap, Sam's club 20# copy paper and left it there to see what would happen. It did not spread. It did not bleed through. It just beaded up on the paper and slowly dried into a big black dot the exact size of the drop. The ink even dries within a few seconds on my paper (nothing fancy at my house). Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A beautiful, dusty purple I heard a great deal about scabiosa and had to try a sample. I'm not much of a person to use purple, but I really love the subdued, dusty quality of this purple. It looks great on ivory or cream-colored paper as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, subtle dusty violet Like their Salix, R&K's Scabiosa is a dusty ink reminiscent of the dustier J. Herbins, in this case Poussiļæ½re de Lune. Scabiosa is a bit showier than Salix, being violet rather than blue-black, but it's still a fairly dark, conservative colour that wouldn't look out of place in correspondence and other day-to-day use. Like Salix, it is mostly but not completely waterproof: some surface ink will be lost upon wetting but the writing will still be completely legible. The name "scabiosa" comes from a family of flowering plants that usually have lavender- or lilac-colour blooms.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice everyday purple This is my first R&K ink. Have it loaded in a Parker 51 that a good friend recently gave me as a 50th birthday gift. I find the saturation is a bit less than what I'm used to with the Iroshizuku inks, but I like it just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new every-day ink Love the color. I've been using Private Reserve Ebony Purple, but it's very water-soluble. I picked this up instead for my Namiki Falcon fine point modified with added flex, and I couldn't be happier. It's a dark plum color, completely waterproof, dries quickly, and the added shading is lovely. Like the other iron galls I've used, it goes down drier than some others, which suits me fine. I will say the extra-fine Goulet nib, though fantastic, cannot do this color justice: you need a heavy ink flow to see the deeper shades, and an extra-fine can't do this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what the doctor ordered... I bought this ink to tame a VERY wet medium Pelikan 140 that I purchased on that auction site. The pen was virtually unusable with Waterman or Lamy ink. I'd heard that Salix was very dry, so I thought I'd give it a try. It did the job. The pen is now no wetter than any other medium Pelikan pen, and the ink itself is a nice colour. It goes down looking almost like Lamy Blue, and then turns into a deep midnight blue-black once it dries.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ink: Roher & Klinger Scabiosa Paint very clear and very dry, did not like the experience of writing with her, expecting a more vivid color. I'll be seeking a permanent ink color base that has a more intense color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My ideal ink! So far, this is my favorite ink I've tried. Works well in a flex nib, dries to a dark, muted purple, but still with elegant shading. Plays nicely with most paper, though a wet line, such as left by a flex nib, may bleed through a little. Elegant, complex, and beautiful, dries reasonably quickly. I will almost certainly buy more bottles of this color over the years.
