Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome, lots of shading I was looking for an everyday ink, purely for personal use. I enjoyed the Noodler's Burgundy, but thought it was a little too bright/intense for my personal taste. This ink combines the purplish pink color I like with a little something more. I simply love it. It looks different depending on the flow of your pen and the wetness of the line, tons of variation, which makes journal writing interesting. I just love it. Also seems to make Moleskine paper a little pinkish looking. Not sure how well to explain that, but seemed to pick up on the pinks in the paper and it almost seems to glow.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too dry for narrow nibbed pens. This is the second sample of this ink that we've tried. The first sample (received as part of a monthly Ink Drop shipment) just didn't perform well in our pens and we decided not to order this ink. After several months, we decided to order another sample to see if maybe the first was a bit "off" since our impressions didn't match the bulk of those online. The second sample matched the first. This ink pretty much requires a wet writing, wider nib width to really work well. Our pen collection tends to the narrower nib widths and this ink just doesn't seem to work well with them. It tends to the dry side, not providing much lubrication, and the narrow widths don't let this ink's shading properties come through. Overall, we weren't too happy with this ink and we won't be ordering any more of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful ink I use it with an Ahab or regular Flex Nib from Noodler's. Takes forever to dry on Clairfontaine notebooks- drys on top of the paper sort of, and still smudges a day later. Several days later, no smudging. Not that you would, but furious notetaking with this ink on Clairfontaine is a smudge-fest. But for correspondence, etc, it will really let people know you are using a fountain pen. It is a light pink when it goes on very fine and dry, to a deep burgundy when heavily shaded. Probably great for artists too, but I haven't tried.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really nice color, writes smooth, new convert! I've had bad luck with two other Noodler's colors and this ink has restored my faith. I got a new Pilot Plumix and inked it with a sample of Black Swan in Australian Roses, and they are the perfect match for each other. The 1mm nib lets the color variation show without being too broad for normal use. It dries quickly on Clairefontaine paper. I'm buying a bottle (or two!) with my next order!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic ink for flex or wide nibs! As you should guess, this ink is known for its shading, and it will forever fill that position!! The ink look fantastic on winder nibs and flex nibs, producing very good shading. I did notice that in a pilot parallel it had the tendency to 'pool', which may shade the color, but it not really 'shading' per say. But because of the parallel's nib that's not a problem. My only mark against it is that it is a slightly feminine looking ink. Other than that fantastic! RUMOR: Noodler's may be developing a blue version!!! So keep on the look out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks like Parker Penman Ruby The main point I want to make here is that in appearance I can't tell the difference between this ink and the long discontinued Parker Penman Ruby of which I have an old bottle. This surprised me because I have a tough time even describing the color. But I love Black Swan in Australian Roses for it's color, it's easy flow, and it's shading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great color I love this ink because it has really great character. I don't really see the "black swan" much on the paper I use and it doesn't matter if it's cheap copy paper or in my Rhodia webbie. Still, the color is a very nice color and the ink behaves really well. The drying time is pretty short. I use it for writing in my journal and for cards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ink suited for me I bought this ink 2 weeks ago, and it seems to be perfect, for now. To test it, I have used Pilot Metropolitan with medium nib, and Leuchtturm notebook. Colour of this ink is "professional" in one way, but also gives that special, distinct feeling, and gratifies user with it's unique colour. Or colours, because this ink shades really well - I have not managed to get black colour out of it (although I heard it's possible), but it shades from the really deep purple to something more like even pink. I will definitively use this ink both to work, and for private usage.
