Faber-Castell Loom Fountain Pen - Metallic Silver, Medium is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome Pen!!! The pen has a nice modern look to it and is a smooth writer. I love the fact that I can not use it for a few days and when I get back to it, ink flow is immediate. There are only two cons I can think of. One is the finish on the body of the pen. It is very slippery to the touch. I thought this would cause issues with gripping the pen, but the rings around the grip section help prevent it from sliding around. The other con is the pen cap is almost too secure. This is not necessarily a bad thing. I just wish it came off a bit easier. These are only minor gripes and I highly recommend the pen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Minimalist excellence This pen has become my hands-down favorite. The Loom has made it into my everyday carry. Pros: The nib is smooth and the weight is perfect for someone with only average-sized hands. The color is beautiful, especially against a gray or navy blue notebook. The clip is wide and springy, unlike the plastic or rigid-metal clips used in many other pens. The cap can be tough to open, but it makes me feel more secure that the cap won't pop off for no reason in my bag. Cons: I do NOT like the weight of the pen posted. Look elsewhere if you prefer a posted pen. The ink flow varies quite a bit (with the same ink). Sometimes it's wet and other times it feels like a narrower nib size. That's it. Really.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Silky smooth out of the box When the Loom arrived, I had just spent several frustrating months dealing with far more expensive pen purchases that arrived with varying degrees of annoying adjustments needed or outright malfunctions. The Loom was a most pleasant surprise. I do wish it came with a converter, however, because of the several universal converters I own, only one came close to fitting and not really tight enough. I had to order the Faber Castell converter for a tight fit. Once I inked up the pen and took it to paper, the Loom performance was excellent. No skips, hard starts, or feedback. Just smooth, consistent flow. The cap is kind of difficult to pry loose but it does post nicely once you do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific pen. Having hemmed and hawed over this pen for a year, Autumn came, and I bought it. And I am glad I did. This is an extraordinary pen for $50 (including converter)! So smooth. It's not a skinny pen and, for me, that is a good thing. The orange cap is really sharp. It does look like Autumn. But the nib is fantastic. I filled it with Diamine Autumn Oak and wow! I got great shading of the ink. The nib is wet, but not too much so. Maybe it's because I use so many broad nibs, but I did think this nib was a tiny bit more fine than most European mediums. But not like a Japanese medium. It is a beautiful writer. This is definitely a pen to just get. Don't think too hard about it. Just buy it. It's a wonderful writer. Now I want a Violet in broad!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Writes beautifully, but . . . I bought the metallic finish, because I prefer matte, not just to avoid fingerprints. But the grip is quite slippery, despite the token ribs. It writes very nicely with its fine nib, but the insecurity of the grip is very off-putting. I tried to add a strip of baseball bat / hockey stick grip tape but until I reduced it to just about 1/4" width it interfered with the cap's closing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth Writer Really nice pen. I chose a medium nib because I like a bit more ink on the page and a smoother writer. Most fine nibs I have purchased seem to have a bit of drag so I opted for the medium in this brand. The only thing I am slightly unhappy about is that it is pretty hard to uncap and cap. It's a very tight fit and sometimes I really have to struggle to get it uncapped. Other than that, very nice performing pen. Heavy enough, feels good in the hand and writes really smoothly. I don't typically cap any pen so I can't speak to that aspect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous pen! I bought the piano white version, which is very cool and futuristic looking. Yes, the shiny silver body does show smudges more than the matte silver body would, but I don't mind at all. I do like that the grip is non-shiny and has ridges – it's very comfortable to write with. I tend not to post my pens, but this one posts comfortably. The nib is unbelievably smooth and silky, and the medium feels comparable (width-wise) to the medium in my Pilot VP. My only quibble is that I really had to push hard to get the converter to stay engaged with the nib unit – it fell out a few times. Also, if you tend to fiddle with your pen in meetings while the pen is capped (like I do) and twist the cap, it can easily unscrew the nib (found this out the hard way a few times.) Overall, though, the pen is a pleasure to use and look at!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid and smooth at a reasonable price No qualms whatsoever in recommending this pen. It has nice heft without being cumbersome, smooth on the page and not too wet or dry for my taste.
