Diamine Brandy Dazzle (50ml Bottled Ink) is rated

I first got a sample of Brandy Dazzle along with several other Diamine Shimmertastic inks and this was my favorite, so I ordered a bottle. Looks like molten antique gold viewed with my Goulet Lighted Loupe when dry. Flows very well. I think the shimmer particles in the ink don't settle as fast as the similar J. Herbin inks, but I have not really done a test. It just seems like they take longer to settle in the bottle. I tried it out in a 1.1mm Twsbi Eco pen and gently shook the pen as I wrote to keep the particles from settling out to the feed too fast. I got good results on all types of papers from inkjet copy paper to Tomoe River to artists' vellum. Flowed well. Did not clog the pen. Did not dry out in the nib. I also tried it in a 1.5mm Pilot Parallel pen and got mixed results, depending on the paper I used, but generally the Parallel performed beautifully with this ink on most papers. All in all a winner for me, I am using it in my Christmas cards along with J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor and J. Herbin Rouge Hematite inks. Be sure to gently shake your pen every few words as you write to keep the glitter suspended uniformly. And shake up the bottle very well before opening it. I use a Goulet Pipette, stirring as I draw the ink into it, then transfer the ink to a vial. Then use the vial to fill the cartridge/converter using an ink syringe. I recommend this ink for wet, wide nibs, but have not used it in fine or medium nibs yet. Wonderful flow, reasonable dry time. One photo shows this ink written with the 1.1 Eco pen, the other with the 1.5 Parallel pen. Both on Rhodia Dotpad paper.

It didn't Dazzle me
I bought this ink owing to the sparkle effect, but it just doesn't do so. I shook the bottle well, quickly putting in my pen to get as much of the metallic particles in as possible. The result was writing where I can barely see any sparkle at all. The metallic particles also settle very quickly in the bottle, so if you want any of it in your pen, you'd better be quick. The ink is a good color, but you can get similar colors without paying a premium for the glitter. It clogged up my Cross, so I had to use it in a wet-writing Italian pen (no name dropping here). It functioned and flowed fine, with good shading, but isn't worth the premium for "dazzle" that doesn't deliver.

Great color, not as sparkly as I had hoped.
I bought this to match my Lamy LX in rose gold. It's a good combination, and flows smoothly enough, though the sparkle is not as obvious as I had hoped. Maybe I just need to shake it up better, but it is a terrific color to work with my Lamy.

Everything I wanted!
My daughter, a woman of discerning tastes, gave me this ink. It is the most gorgeous shade of coppery red. So far, I have had no problems with drying out or clogging--all of which I had kind of worried would be the case. Diamine does it again! I am a fan for life.

I gave it a 4 because I anticipate cleaning issues. It's sparkly and fun without looking childish. It even shades.
