De Atramentis Sherlock Holmes (35ml Bottled Ink) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sherlock Holmes! Unlike some of these Historic People inks (Why on earth is Edgar Allan Poe that mid-green color??) Sherlock seems to fit pretty well the color. It also happens to be the only Historic Person based on a not-technically real fictional person, which is kind of fun. It's got good behavior and pretty nice shading. A nice night blue, just like the label claims. It's a color that would be nice to have anyway. And it's a good color for mysteries.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like the color not the spread I like a blue-black ink and I do enjoy Conan Doyle's character so it was an impulse. In Lamy and Pilot pens the ink flow is good and I have had not trouble with skipping or starting issues. My main complaint it feathering on anything less than high g smooth paper. I use Gold Medal notepads and it has become hit or miss on the bleed and feather issue using their notepads. The lesser quality the paper the problem is compounded. Not very water resistant after drying over thirty minutes I had some condensation from a water glass fall on my work and it all but disappeared. Like the name, like the color but unless in a good quality journal that will close and keep it all dry I wouldn't use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A bluer darkly I really enjoy the color of this ink because it is a dark, rich blue without being blue black. I bought it on impulse and it has become one of my favorites. The color is great for a full page's worth of note taking, being easy to read even on french ruled or graph paper. It is a very a wet ink though, not too unlike Iroshizuku.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very much enjoying I wish I could eloquently describe the subtle nuances of color but I am color deficient on the verge of color blind. I do know that I like the color blue and that this one is pleasing to my, admittedly, weak eye. It seems pretty dark and bold (I write with a 1.1mm stub). It flows well in my Monteverde Invincia. Since owning it, the most interesting use, was signing the paperwork on my wife's 2013 MINI Countryman - that she named, "Watson". Who better to vouch for Watson than Holmes?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Holmes I bought this ink on a whim. I really like DeAtramentis inks in general, so I figured, why not? This one is as good as the others I have from them. It's well-behaved, and has good saturation. My only complaint, and it is minor, is that it's pretty much a blue-black. I should have know better, so I can't make a fuss about it. As always, Goulet service is flawless. The lollipops are quite welcome, too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from interesting color This was the first ink I tried a sample of. The flow is nice -- not too dry, but not overly gushing either. The color seems to vary somewhat depending on the paper -- on slicker papers it has a dark teal cast, but on others it's more of a straight dark blue (without being either a true navy or a blue black). Depending on the pen and the paper, it has some nice shading qualities as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ink's Afoot! A lovely dark dark blue ink from De Atramentis. And for a fantasy writer like myself, how can one not want to say to folks that you're writing stories with a pen full off Sherlock Holmes?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ink The Sherlock Holmes dark blue is a genuine dark blue--no black or green. The color is more muted than vibrant, with some shading--very polished. It has great flow, dries quickly and presents very well. First rate ink--the best dark blue I have found.
