De Atramentis Frankincense (35ml Bottled Ink) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smells great. Medium grey w/hint of blue Of the scented inks I have tried, this and De Atramentis Patchouli are the strongest smelling. They both smell great and both have a musky spice smell. Frankincense is a medium grey with just a tiny hint of blue undertone. I didn't think I would like this ink as much as I do. I really just bought it for the novelty of having a scented ink. I have tried 10 or 11 of the scented inks now and this one is one of my favorites. It shades pretty well too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful scent and color! This was my first scented ink, though, on reflection, all inks I use have their own aromas. Frankincense is gently spicy and pleasing to to my nose. The scent does not persist on the written page, so my correspondents cannot share the fun. The gray is beautifully understated and shades nicely too. Goulet service and packaging was exemplary as always.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fairly neutral grey Has a slight greenish tinge, very similar to DeA Magic Boarding School. Slightly darker than DeA Silver Grey. DeA Fog Grey is bluer and a bit darker than this ink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect medium, cool shade of gray. I wanted this ink to round out my gray ink collection which includes J. Herbin's Gris Nuage (medium-light, cool gray), Iroshizuku's Kiri-same (medium-dark, warm gray), Iroshizuku's Fuyu-syogun (medium-dark, cool gray), and De Atramentis' Frederick the Great (just slightly darker than De Atramentis' Frankincense).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Intrigued I was intrigued and purchased this ink thinking it would be cool to have notes / letters smell of Frankincense, but as others have noted the smell is only in the bottle and not so much on the pen (as an example Noodler's has a very distinct smell). I do find it interesting that depending on the paper it behaves differently, i.e. on the regular printer / copier paper it actually looks like a dark grey, but when I use it on my Clairefontaine note book it looks closer to black so keep this in mind. Being a lefty, I do appreciate that it dries quickly (so not much smudging). I have been using this on a pen with a medium nib which is slightly wetter than some other mediums.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from De Atramentis Frankincense thanks for the sweet extra touches to make the package arriving in the mail feel like a correspondence rather than an impulse buy. i won't go to anyone else for my pen/ink needs again, you've found a new loyal customer. thanks again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Frankincense This definitely smells of Frankincense. It's a navy blue-ish gray; shades nicely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What rhymes with Frankincense? Can't think of anything so i will get right to it. Yes, it smells like Frankincense. No it doesn't smell like Frankincense anywhere other than in the bottle. It would be cool if your letters on the page smelled good but, alas, no. It doesn't matter because this is a beautiful ink even without the smell. It lays down a nice line and in my opinion, is a bit darker than the swab example on line. I used a fine nib so perhaps your mileage may vary.
