De Atramentis Document Ink - Violet (35ml Bottled Ink) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Distinctive Purple I purchased this ink to "round out" a set of De Atramentis Document ink samples, and I must say I am as pleased with it as each of the others. Purple hues can be difficult, but this one sits right between the Document Fuchsia and the Document Red; easily distinguishable from both. In real life, the color is just a tiny bit redder and warmer than the swab shows. It's a beautiful color. As with the other Document Inks, on good paper (Circa or Arc white), with a 1.1 stub nib, this ink puts down a wet, generous, saturated line, with just a bit of shading, that dries quickly. I do not hesitate to recommend this ink to anyone considering a purple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be still my heart! I'm a bit amused that despite all of the various purple inks available on Goulet, this one is a perfect fit for me. I initially purchased it because I wanted waterproof inks to use for sketching with watercolors, but have fallen so in love with this color that I like it better than the various other purple samples I've tried. (I'll keep using those for when I actually want to do ink and wash sketches.) The flow is good, it dries relatively fast, and it's been reliable in several pens now. I'll probably be buying a full bottle even though I could easily mix my own purple from the blue/turquoise + red/fuchsia inks in the Documents range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful surprise I purchased the violet to use as a mixing color. My intent in purchasing, over time, the line of de Atrementis document inks has been for drawing, not necessarily for writing. I tend to use staid colored black, blue blacks, dark greens (saturated deep colors in a fine nib) when writing but this violet ink is such a nice grapey hue with a bit of softness making it more discreet than other purples, that I've been using it for writing and loving the change from the starker colors. Who'd a thought! It's wet enough that the color doesn't look pale in a fine nib. In my Leuchtturm1917 notebook there is no feathering or bleed through etc (Pilot Metropolitan F). It's ok on the cheaper writing papers neither quite so bad or as good as other inks. The color is pretty true to the photo on this website. As a drawing ink, the wetness and flow (as with all the document inks I've been using) in my Konrad is perfect for heavy watercolor paper and the flex pen. For whatever inexplicable reason, I had less difficulties getting the Konrad into good writing order with this ink than any other. I've tried about every waterproof ink available to a fountain pen and, obviously, I am a great fan of De Atrementis document inks. And, for those who don't know, Jane Blundell has some posts/color sample on her blog about mixing de Atrementis document inks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazingly bright for water resistance. A great option for water resistance that's not black or blue. Nice, dark shade, not too pink or whimsical; would work great for general office correspondence to identify as 'your' unique notation. Great flow, decent dry time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Waterproof Violet Fun! I love my DeAtramentis Violet. Deep, rich, non-fading, waterproof. I put it in my special edition Lilac Lamy Safari and I sketch happily away with a focus on fun fun fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Search for Permanent Violet is over... Not only this ink permanent but also show some shading. The other Noodlers inks like Concord Grape and LRM are more saturated than this one. But also require more maintenance . very smooth , good flow and fast dry time. Now I would seriously try more of De Atramentis Document inks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from De Atrementis Document Ink - Violet Because I am fairly new to the fountain pen world, I am not certain of how to rate an ink do I will just say this - the color is PERFECT for me and the fact that it is waterproof (for my journaling) is a clincher. I will be purchasing this ink by the bottle. I'm sure the pen I am using has something to do with the flow as well but it really does write very smoothly, no streaks of partial ink flow or blobs of ink in one place. A new must have for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a Barney purple Often, purples look exquisite in the bottle but disappoint on paper. Some dry to an insipid, pastel wash or turn a candy shade that I would rather not use for work. De Atramentis Document Violet is a nearly-pure purple hue, leaning neither too blue nor too red. Although I can see red in it, which gives it some warmth, on paper it is slightly muted by grey, but the result is far from dull. I immediately inked up my Lamy Safari Dark Lilac with a medium nib and fell in love with the chroma, hue, value, flow, and very moderate shading. The happiest discovery came when I used Violet in my purple Pilot Vanishing Point EF, a nib so fine, it's like writing with the point of a pin. Violet lost none of its vibrancy, and although I feared the ink would be dry, it was surprisingly wet in such a fine nib. I have spent over a year searching for a holy-grail, low-maintenance permanent ink, but it never occurred to me to try a purple one. Violet is The One. It dries very quickly, with no bleeding or feathering from any nib. It even performs fine on cheap notebook and copy paper, but really shines on Leuchtturm, Rhodia, Clairefontaine, and Tomoe. From across a conference room table, the color looks almost black, very professional and distinctive. And from my vantage point, I can enjoy its subtle purple majesty. Love it.
