Conklin Nighthawk Fountain Pen - Copper, Extra-Fine (Closeout)

This Conklin Nighthawk fountain pen, part of our exclusive Conklin Nighthawk collection, is made from solid raw copper. This pen is durable and can be kept in its original raw copper form or allowed to patina over time. The black clip is easy to operate but secure, and is engraved with the Conklin logo. We equipped this pen with our black Goulet #6 extra-fine steel nib (made by JoWo in Germany) to match the black trim.

Each Conklin Nighthawk comes in a gift box with two standard international short ink cartridges (1 blue and 1 black), a standard international converter, and is warrantied for life by Conklin’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Each pen will come individually numbered. Unfortunately we won’t be able to honor any specific number requests. We consider them to be a Special Edition, produced in a single batch that will only be available for a period of time.

Note: This pen’s barrel and cap are made from raw, unfinished Copper. You will see a natural patina develop on the metal (see images above). If you wish to remove the patina, we’ve found that a mixture of 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1/8 teaspoon of salt will clean it up with little to no effort using either a toothbrush or cotton.

Conklin Nighthawk Fountain Pen - Copper, Extra-Fine (Closeout) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This pen seduced me This pen is very seductive. I was leery after watching the video for this pen. I like slimmer profiles in my pens. This pen has a hefty body (1/2”?) and I was hesitant to order. I think the limited edition cinched the deal. Plus, I’ve wanted a copper pen for some time and just can’t justify a more costly pen at this time. I’ve inked it with Diamond Antique Copper which pairs beautifully with the pen. Took a slight effort for the ink to flow but it was worth the wait. The ink flow is neither too wet nor too dry. It writes a very nice line. Great nib. I’d like finer yet, but that’s just me. I’ve adjusted to the size of it. It’s quite comfortable in my hand and feels good. Most importantly, I’m glad I gave it a chance. It really is a great pen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful but heavy pen This pen is beautiful. I have had it less than a week and it is already acquiring a patina, which is really cool. I have received an unusual amount of compliments from people when they see this pen. I can see myself writing short letters with this pen. Pros: It is beautiful, the extra-fine writes like a dream, and my finger position fits comfortably on the pen. I find myself staring at it for extended periods of time. Cons: I had to get accustomed to the screw cap, but it's growing on me. I will say that it is definitely on the heavy side, but I knew that going in. I think only The Hulk could realistically write with the cap posted. Lucky for me, I don't like writing with caps posted. However, it is still heavy, which is why I can't see myself using it all day. But for the occasional use, it will be great. Plus, it looks great with my dark leather desk pad. It took a while to get the ink running, but once it started running, it was perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Conklin Nighthawk Copper, EF I got #224 when the special was run with the free Monteverde ink. I picked Fireopal. It's an outstanding pairing! The patina formed in a couple of days and looks really great. It has mass and feels secure in my hand. The Goulet EF nib has a great, fine line, has just the right amount of flex for me and is smooth, not scratchy. I'm really liking this pen and it's my pick when I go to project meetings at development sites because I know it'll hold up to my copious note-taking and I won't worry as much about an accidental fall like I would with some of my other pens (don't take that to mean that I'm going to abuse it, 'cause I won't). The only negatives I would mention with this are ones that those familiar with Conklin already experience: it doesn't post as securely as I would like and finding the "home" position for the cap threads is sometimes hit-or-miss. Other than that, I'm finding that this is going to be one of my "constant carry" pens! And, I must confess, I'm enjoying this pen so much I'm eyeing up the Brass version!
