Conklin Duragraph Fountain Pen - Cracked Ice, Medium

In 1923, the Duragraph model was launched, and shortly afterwards was considered to be "the definitive" pen. The model was named by combining the words, durable and graph - Duragraph. Created to last as an heirloom to serve many generations, the Duragraph is offered with a lifetime guarantee. In honor of the Duragraph's 91st birthday, Conklin has introduced a new Duragraph collection that brings a fresh, modern style to a timeless oversize flat top design. Crafted from quality hand made resins, the Duragraph is substantial in size, yet not so large to be unwieldy in the hand.

The Duragraph draws its inspiration from the rich heritage of the Conklin brand, which was purchased and revived by Yafa in 2009. It is manufactured in Asia, assembled and distributed from Canoga Park, California, and pays tribute to its roots with a “Toledo, Ohio” engraving on its nib and barrel. Comes with a #6 two-tone steel fine nib, a converter, and a cartridge.

The Duragraph offers the ideal choice for your individual handwriting style. The cap top mounted clip allows the pen to sit low in the pocket, making this model a more practical choice for everyday use. Each Conklin fine writing instrument is housed in a luxury gift presentation box lined with rich satin. It comes with a converter and also accepts short standard international cartridges. Ideal as a perfect gift for yourself or a loved one, this model is the right size for both men and women who use fine writing instruments in their daily professional lives.

Conklin Duragraph Fountain Pen - Cracked Ice, Medium is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I don't own orange (bright) fountain pens. So when this came out as Goulet exclusive, I didn't hesitate. I received this and I can say: this is very beautiful. I don't think this orange is particularly beautiful since I don't have any other orange. To me it's a rather dull kind of orange. Overall finish is also not that impressive. It just shows that this isn't an expensive pen. But that's ok for the great price (comes with international cartridge). Also, I had worries about the nib. But this Conklin nib (medium for me) is very very smooth. Overall, I don't think you can beat this. Great price for a great product. Get it before it's gone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful pen with a very fine nib I actually bought two of these in close succession: a Forest Green (beautiful pen) with a fine nib and an Orange Nights with a medium. Quality and appearance are wonderful. The nibs are significantly finer than most, so I'd call their "Medium" a Fine and their "Fine" an extra fine. These are very dry writers, so you need a very intense ink (Diamine Midnight in the fine) to work at all. Diamine Salamander in the fine was almost illegible. Not enough color on the page. De Atramentis Petrol in the medium wasn't much of a success either. Trouble starting. I'm using Diamine Asa Blue there and it works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Material I bought this pen in January along with Diamine Blue Velvet and the two match very well. According to some reviews I read of it before, the nib would be a little scratchy. Upon receiving it I polish the nib on some Goulet micro-mesh. It is now very smooth. The resin used is stunning, and it has a great chatoyance in some of the white flecks. The nib is rather plain in design, but gets the job done, and you can actually get a fair amount of line variation out of it. This pen has been growing on me ever since I bought it and it is always one I reach to ink up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great in the hand. The vibrant orange and pearlescent glow of the body looks great on the desk and in the hand. Medium nib is smooth, with the slightest hint of stub-like line variation and a springy feel - a pleasure to write with. Slightly on the dry side, probably best with free flowing inks. Very handsome pen at this price point.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful and comfortable. This IS smooth. The Conklin Duragraph is the newest pen of my collection. And it made me love it. The box presents the pen with high sophistication, in a way the white material highlights the pen and values this writing instrument. The nib made me review my concepts about smoothness... Because this is much more smooth than I thought a fountain pen nib could be! There are two downsides in design: the clip and the "Conklin" engravation are not lined and this is not perfect for me. For lots of people who don't care about small datails, it is fine. The other problem is that my single pen does not post like in the photos, it goes just half the way down. Maybe I should force it a little but I don't want any scratches in that finishing... As you see, I didn't have many issues with the pen, and considering that I am left-handed... You know, this pen is a great choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality at an Extremely Affordable Price I've used this pen for about three years now. In the course of those three years, this pen has become the "old reliable" of my collection. When you hear other people praising this pen, take them seriously; this pen has one of the smoothest nibs of any I've used. What really blows my mind about this pen is how with such great quality, the pen still manages to sell for about sixty dollars. You could buy pens that cost double the price of the Duragraph that wouldn't even come close to what this pen has to offer. I've been upset with a lot of pens I've purchased in the past. Not so with the Duragraph. While this is isn't the exact Conklin pen Mark Twain used, I can see why he wrote so highly of the Conklin brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, classic-looking pen I've had this pen for about a month and really love it. It has a very retro 1920's look and feel which I like. The amber color is stunning, and I like that you can kind of see the ink level inside. It's a great size pen and feels nice and solid, yet light. It writes like a dream and I even like the gold accent on the nib. The top screws securely into the body and it comes with a nice converter which works well. One thing to note is that when posted, the cap doesn't feel real secure. It isn't a problem since it's an easy fix by pushing it on a bit tighter, but even then, it never really feels quite right. Not a deal breaker or any big deal-especially at this price point. It writes relatively wet which I like. Great pen for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised I was pleasantly surprised upon first writing with this pen and have used it consistently for three weeks with no problems. It's a smooth writer, not to wet and not to dry. Only a hint of feed back with the M nib, just to let you know you are writing. Honestly, I hesitated at first, to buy, because I have heard so many mixed reviews, but when that orange and black combo came out, I was hooked. I wouldn't hesitate to suggest this pen to someone. For the price, you get much more.
