Conklin Duragraph Fountain Pen - Cracked Ice, Fine

In 1923, the Duragraph model was launched, and shortly afterwards was considered to be "the definitive" pen. The model was named by combining the words, durable and graph - Duragraph. Created to last as an heirloom to serve many generations, the Duragraph is offered with a lifetime guarantee. In honor of the Duragraph's 91st birthday, Conklin has introduced a new Duragraph collection that brings a fresh, modern style to a timeless oversize flat top design. Crafted from quality hand made resins, the Duragraph is substantial in size, yet not so large to be unwieldy in the hand.

The Duragraph draws its inspiration from the rich heritage of the Conklin brand, which was purchased and revived by Yafa in 2009. It is manufactured in Asia, assembled and distributed from Canoga Park, California, and pays tribute to its roots with a “Toledo, Ohio” engraving on its nib and barrel. Comes with a #6 two-tone steel fine nib, a converter, and a cartridge.

The Duragraph offers the ideal choice for your individual handwriting style. The cap top mounted clip allows the pen to sit low in the pocket, making this model a more practical choice for everyday use. Each Conklin fine writing instrument is housed in a luxury gift presentation box lined with rich satin. It comes with a converter and also accepts short standard international cartridges. Ideal as a perfect gift for yourself or a loved one, this model is the right size for both men and women who use fine writing instruments in their daily professional lives.

Conklin Duragraph Fountain Pen - Cracked Ice, Fine is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 55.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful pen This was my Christmas present pen. It is very solid, feels great drying long sessions. The nib writes smooth, but there is a hint of feedback. More peanut butter smooth than buttery smooth. The fine point writes sweet and still shoes shading. (Using Monteverde Turqauois ink.) For sure you want to flush out this pen before using. Original couple ink ups and the pen didn't want to write all that well. It's also a little finicky on what surface you write on. Once flush and on a padded surface, pen operates well. In the sun the pen has a slight sparkle to it. My sons are jealous of this feature. I did buy pen partially for looks and partially it being an "Ohio" pen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Beautiful Pen For a Great Price I first want to say thank you to Goulet Customer Service (Zippy) because I had a problem with the nib (the god cresent was missing) and needed help. She got back with me quickly and with a very positive attitude helped me to swap out the damaged one for a brand new one. Five stars for CS :) The pen is so beautiful and writes smooth with no skipping. I ordered the fine nib and it performs wonderfully. A tiny bit of tooth, but very pleasent. The nib is more like an Asian (F), and I love that. It is very smooth! I love the color and the translucent properties. It will join my everyday rotation for a while. It's a beautiful pen for a great price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't believe this pen is less than 45 bucks! Beautiful pen, nicely made, good weight. If I had had to guess I would have said it cost at least 100 dollars. Don't usually select fine nibs, but chose one for this just because I don't have but one other fine. A little scratchy, not annoying though at all. I like feedback from the paper and this is good without being pricky. Appears very well made, not cheap or shoddy. One thing though, it's not intended to be posted, the cap looks awkward on the end and greatly imbalances it. The body is long enough that it fits in the hand well. Bottom line: excellent pen! Would gladly give this as a gift.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better the 2nd time around I ordered this pen with great anticipation based on fellow fountain pen owners who gave this pen a great review. The ordering and delivery from Goulet pen's was fantastic, but once I tried to use the pen, it was clear that there was a problem. The pen had hard starting issues, and ink starvation. I contacted Goulet pen's via email within 3 days of delivery, and Ross gave great customer service. They shipped me a replacement, with a shipping label to return my old one. The new one works so well it stays with me everyday, and is my new go to pen. The only down side is that I am giving less use to my other pens can recommend this pen, but 4 starts due to my first needed a return.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Function and beauty. In the past three months I've bought two Conklin Duragraph with fine nibs. One in Green (which I unfortunately left on an airplane...blame the jet lag)and one in Cracked Ice. First and most importantly, they have both worked flawlessly. Considering some of the other more expensive pens I've bought in the past decade that haven't, I'm impressed. Next, they are well made and attractive. Size wise, they are medium to large, but still comfortable in my average sized hand. Lastly, they are affordable. Really affordable! I'll be getting a couple more before Conklin raises the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cleaning necessary When i first inked the pen (Watermans Black ink), nothing happened. No trace of ink on the paper. The nib would just scratch the paper leaving no ink mark. Tried other inks with the same result. I then contacted the folks at Goulet who recommended a good cleaning/flushing for the pen. I used water to flush followed by soapy water followed by plain water and success! The pen now writes like a dream and I am very happy with it. I should note that I have two other Conklin Duragraphs that wrote right out of the box, needing no cleaning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought on recommendation, very glad I did! I ordered this as my next step up from Pilot metropolitan, and I'm really enjoying it. The F nib is as broad as the pilot M, and it's a bit wetter, which I find I quite like. It shaded nicely with J. Herbin Rouille D'ancre ink. Overall, it feels and looks like a more expensive pen. I heard that the early ones had some quirks, I've experienced none of that. At first I thought I had problems with skipping, but I think it's more about a sweet spot and pen angle than the itself. I do notice that it writes quite wet at first whenever I go to use it, and then becomes drier as you go... this may be a quirk of fountain pens in general, I don't have enough experience to know that yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't get a better value pen As the Brian's video said, it is a surprise to have such a quality, translucent material in a pen at this price point. A glance at the amber puts you in mind of much higher end pens or any number of the bench made, small batch pens in circulation. The assembly is solid. Better than a Lamy Safari (lower price point), comparable to the similarly priced asian made Rosetta or more expensive Paradise pen Padrino brands, still will not be confused with a Parker Duofold. It is comfortable to use - not really postable (too long), but a perfect length unposted, weighted well and the threads are absolutely unnoticeable. The nib is fine. A true fine line with some definite feedback. And any #6 nib works. I scored a Goulet EF to have with mine. It is a pleasure to use and I am not concerned about tossing it into any bag. This is a pen that, if a family member or close friend expressed interest in my fountain pens, I would not hesitate to gift. - Beautiful material - Threaded converter - Classic styling - Comfortable - Clip is a bit snug - Nib is not butter, but is reliable and replaceable
