Introducing the Diplomat Esteem MadC collection – hydrodipped fountain pens featuring the work of renowned artist MadC. Each colorful fountain pen is fitted with a polished stainless steel proprietary JoWo nib and fills via standard international cartridge/converter (both are included).
MadC was born as Claudia Walde in Germany in 1980. Her canvases are exhibited in solo and group shows worldwide. But she also always had this special immediate connection with the street itself, which shows in the numerous colorful murals she painted around the world. MadC's style has its roots in graffiti art, resulting in vividly colored dynamic calligraphy and transparency. Her unique use of color, composition and layering are perfectly paired with the spontaneously and fast painted lines of the calligrapher. The abstract paintings boast of energy and depths. They draw you in and capture the viewer in a universe, surpassing languages and cultures.
This association was born of a will to marry the pen as a traditional instrument to this urban art, being the modern expression of the trend of art. The choice for Diplomat to collaborate with MadC was motivated by her colorful universe, inspired by ancestral calligraphy techniques. Her history is also common with the Diplomat brand, German born, raised not far from Cunewalde, where the Diplomat pens are manufactured.
The hydrodipping printing process is mind blowing! Widely used in the fields of luxury watchmaking or motorsport, this technique had never been applied to pens until Diplomat in 2019. The work of MadC is printed on an alcohol polyvinyl film, then the pens are immersed in these films to put on their new finish.
Each pen is unique, featuring a different section of the original canvas. We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, expect some variation in the pattern from what you see here. We’re unable to honor any preferential pattern requests at this time.Click to shop all compatible short standard international ink cartridges.
