When art and technology are blended in perfect symbiosis, the result is a pen of extremes in perfect balance. The Monteverde Invincia is the highest form of the penmaker's art. The Invincia has a large, contoured profile that is well-balanced for writing comfort.

This Monteverde Invincia Deluxe fountain pen features a sleek brushed gunmetal grey barrel and cap, complemented by gunmetal trim. It fills via standard international ink cartridges or converter (included). The screw-cap pushes to post onto the barrel when writing. It fills via standard international ink cartridges or converter (included).

This limited edition of 250 is a Goulet Pens-exclusive! Each pen is individually numbered on the bottom of the barrel.

This fountain pen is offered with your choice of a reliable, smooth-writing German made JoWo #6 steel nib in black in sizes extra-fine, fine, medium, broad, 1.1mm stub or the new JoWo #6 Omniflex flexible steel nib for variation in line width. With six nib options, you are sure to find a selection to fit your handwriting style.

Our note about the JoWo Omniflex nib: This flex nib will allow you to experience more bounce and softness than writing with conventional nibs. You can achieve some line variation with a little additional downward pressure, to a point. We recommend flexing the nib to about twice the line width that you would see without using any pressure. Please take care to avoid pressing too hard on the nib, as over-flexing could prevent the tines from returning fully to their original position and decrease or stop your ink flow.

We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, there will be some variation in the pattern seen here. This adds an element of uniqueness to the pen, with no two patterns being exactly the same. We cannot honor special requests.

Fantastic look, not so fantastic flex

The pictures do not do this pen justice, but it's extremely difficult to photograph this kind of reflectiveness. The surface feels a bit rough, and the grooves have parts that are smoothly polished so that they reflect the light like a steel plate (not mirror finish, more like "blurry mirror"). It's a subtle pen, until it catches the light and draws attention to itself.

The Omniflex nib is not very flexible, as mentioned in another review. It's stiff, but I think over time it will relax a bit and allow for more line variation. As it is I have to press harder than I want to get thicker lines. Used with the converter it's had a couple dry moments, but that could be my newness to converter usage. I opened the barrel and twisted the converter's plunger a little and the ink flowed again.

I purchased the nib as a "let's try out some calligraphy" and even stiff as it is I can practice line variation, so it is fulfilling it's purpose for me. The lines when not flexing are very fine, and I love them just as they are. That's likely how I'll use this pen going forward, as a fancy extra-fine point. At least until the Omni relaxes a bit with wear and usage.

Pleasantly surprised

I’d heard some mixed reviews of Monteverde, but this limited edition was too pretty to pass up. In person, a pen that lives up to its photos. Excellent build quality, machining and details. The brushed metal barrel varies from brown to gray, depending on the light (no ombré effect like in the photo, however). It’s a substantial, metal pen. Feels oddly balanced and heavy when posted, but just fine writing capless. The M nib is very smooth and pleasant for both printing or fast longhand note-taking. It possibly even surpasses my TWSBI as the flowiest, juiciest M nib I have (at least with the Monteverde Scotch Brown ink, which does have lubricant). If I had to do it over, I’d opt for the F. Overall, a wonderful pen. Don’t believe the haters.

Deluxe Fountain Pen Graphite (Limited Edition)

Awesome and Beautiful pen, Just the right size, very smooth.

Like the pen, however it does not flex. Don’t want to be negative but factual. Should call it a “tad bit bouncy writer”. Very smooth and love it but NO flex. Omni flex is false advertising. I love flex and that would be “The Good Blue”!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

For even more information about fountain pen cleaning, check out our Fountain Pen 101 video blog post.
