Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ink In A Great Bottle I really love this ink, which is interesting and attactive in a blue-grey color. It performs well on a variety of cheap papers, offering good drying times and little to no bleedthrough (even on the cheap stuff). Maybe just a touch on the dry side, which I prefer. I'm glad I bought the ink, and note my respectful disagreement with a prior commenter that this ink (Magnetic Blue) is darker than Diamine Denim. To my eye, I appreciate that Magnetic Blue is both lighter and bluer than DD (which looks almost black unless it's sitting next to black). The bottle is heavy, and has at least for the moment replaced a Venitian glass inkwell on my desk. 'Nuff said - I'm a fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, Deep, Blue-Black with a Presentation Beyond Compare This has become my new favorite ink over the last two weeks. I was looking for a blue-black that was deeper than a couple other inks I had used. It is a darker and deeper blue than either the Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-Kai or the Noodler's 54th Massachusetts. It shades very well in my Apica notebook with a reasonable dry time and no feathering. The ink's performance in my pen (Monteverde Invincia, Fine Nib) is matched only by the fantastic presentation of the box and bottle. This is a truly impressive visual display for a desk, and for me at least it justified the overall price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Technical aspects very good, color a bit disappointing In many respects this is an excellent ink. Flow, dry time, and saturation are great. Water resistance is not a significant concern for me. The packaging is nothing short of beautiful. I have a single but significant disappointment. Based on the swab I was expecting a darkish grey with a distinct blue overtone. On paper (e.g. Rhodia dotted) is is almost black -- darker than the darkest shade in the swab -- with very little shading and no blue in evidence. Color being what it is, I can't really fault the ink, and will buy Caran d'Ache again, but will purchase a sample first given the cost of the ink.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very attractive bottle - Don't throw away the box! This is my first Caran ink. Fast drying and good flow. The color is looks like a blue black ink with some added grey. The reason I wanted to try Caran is simply because of this stunning bottle. The cap is metal is feels very luxurious. The tilted bottle gives a lot of character. Don't worry, the ink won't spill if you open it like that. DO NOT throw away the box that comes with the ink. The instruction manual actually tells you when the ink level gets low, filling up with the bottle back in the box (just the base part) helps. They bottle would be sitting upright and now the bottom of the bottle would be at an angle, so the ink would flow to the deeper end (you will know what I'm talking about if you read the manual). I haven't tried flushing a pen with this ink so I can't commend on the ease of cleaning yet. But since this is not a water resistance ink I would imagine it is not hard to clean. It doesn't stain the converter as far as i can tell. If you like blue black and want something a little more showy, but subtle enough for work, give it a try. I took a star off (4 instead of 5) because of the seemingly high price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very User Friendly This is a very attractive blue-black. It flows smoothly, cleans up easily, and shades nicely. Reminiscent of Diamine Denim or Franklin Christoph Dark Denim, but a little darker than both, it is a good workplace color; interesting but not too flashy. And, of course, the bottle and packaging are just too cool. I have not checked the ink's water resistance, but I'm guessing it's not an archival ink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not an ordinary blue-black I own two different Caran d'Ache inks - one the brilliant green and now the magentic blue. There is a subtle richness to these inks and it nice to have the uniquely shaped bottles done in glass. Worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Goulet Shopping Experience Having bought a bunch of things over the last few years, I have come to expect from the Goulet's quick, professional service, a nice hand-written note, a piece of candy and a wrapping job that would make Houdini tremble. Having met the Goulets at a pen show I can say that they are regular size, not tiny like they look in my computer! Oh, and the ink is very nice. Too expensive, but very nice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rich color I took a gamble on this ink, since it is kind of pricey. It paid off. Great vibrant color with some shading, perfect flow and quite manageable. Not waterproof, but some water resistance.
