Caran d'Ache 849 Fountain Pen - Pink Fluo, Extra-Fine

There is a new addition to the famous assortment of sleek Caran d’Ache 849 ballpoint pens – new Caran d’Ache 849 Fountain Pen. With its more rounded lines, the 849 Fountain Pen reveals a unique personality and comfort. The eye-catching, energising colours draw attention to the light yet robust aluminium body of the 849 Fountain Pen. Four fluorescent colours – pink, green, yellow and orange - give the graphic lines an extra spark. The matte navy blue and black enhances the contemporary design and industrial aesthetics of these writing instruments. The varnished white brings an element of balance to this refreshing whirlwind of fun. While maintaining a 100% Swiss Made quality, the 849 Fountain Pen underlines the bold, creative spirit of Caran d’Ache.

In addition to its iconic hexagonal look, the 849 Fountain Pen highlights the talent of the master craftsmen at Caran d’Ache. Their luxury writing know-how is brought to bear on the Office Line from the Geneva-based company to create high-performance writing instruments. Thus the contemporary look of the stainless steel nib of the 849 Fountain Pen ensures smooth and precise writing. Available in 3 sizes, the nib carries the new Caran d’Ache identification, as does the button on the cap. To ensure even more comfortable use, the 849 Fountain Pen can be posted when writing. The 849 Fountain Pen offers a resolutely modern touch to this traditional writing instrument that the owner will want to take everywhere!

Each pen includes one Chromatic ink cartridge and red & white gift box. For your convenience, we’ve included a standard international converter as well.

Note: Fluorescent colors are notoriously difficult to capture with a camera, so keep in mind that the actual products may appear more vibrant than shown here.

Caran d'Ache 849 Fountain Pen - Pink Fluo, Extra-Fine is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from High Quality at a good price point This is the first Caran D'Ache that I could afford given that this particular brand is rather high end. I love the heptagonal shape but I'm glad that the grip is round! It's a very light pen and yet feels solid and sturdy, however, the overall look or design of the pen is less than spectacular! It's saving grace is its nib! I love fine to extra fine depending on the brand and country of origin! This extra fine point is smooth and effortless and leaves an almost ethereal-like line on most of my stationery stock! So if you like a really fine line, this pen delivers! My one big gripe is when the cap is posted; it feels flimsy and insecure; there is a lot of play when the cap is posted which allows it to wiggle as if it's about to fall off! Now I'm not sure if this is common with this model or whether I simply have a 'defective' model but I find it a bit annoying; posting should be much more secure!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing EDC Pen As a studying landscape architecture student, I am constantly drawing and writing. This means I'm also on the look out for new pens and the Caran d'Ache 849 instantly caught my eye. There were not a lot of reviews for this pen so I thought I would contribute. First off, this pen is a modern beauty. It is clean, simple, and sophisticated, especially in black. The clip is awesome as well and looks fantastic in a shirt pocket. When I first received the pen, I was rather disappointed by how often it skipped, but with use, I soon discovered that slightly rotating of the pen made all the difference. To clarify, turning the pen counter-clockwise along the axis of the barrel, so that the feed faces the direction you are writing will produce consistent and smooth lines. It has a nice amount of feedback as well for an extra-fine and writes especially well on trace paper. The lines are crisp and perfect for sketching. My only complaint with the pen is that the cap spins freely rather than snapping into place. A very minor complaint on an otherwise amazing fountain pen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice for everyday carry I’ve used this pen for a couple of weeks as an EDC pen along with a matching mech pencil I found on another site. They make a nice pair. The pen writes broader than I expected. Writes fairly wet. Overall a good value and looks like it will be a good workhorse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra Fine Nib at It's Finest!! Wonderful balance and a truly 'extra' fine nib that leaves a delicate line of ink. I find the nib to be a bit bendy, but simply adjusting the angle of my grip keeps the ink flow even. I've loaded it with Noodler's ink, both regular and lubricated; the lubricated variety gave a smoother writing experience. The best part? It's BRIGHT PINK! Never gets lost on the desk!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Plastic The pen does write fairly well but over all it is a clunky plastic pen and just doesn’t have a quality feel.
