Aurora Ipsilon Fountain Pen - Green, Medium

An innovative line with a strong attitude. The Aurora Ipsilon, with its unmistakably shaped clip, is a loyal everyday companion dedicated to those who work and study. It is made of green resin with gold-plated accents and a matching gold-plated steel nib in medium. This fountain pen comes with an Aurora blue ink cartridge and an Aurora converter in a black gift box.

A light and well-balanced snap-cap pen, the Ipsilon is a great every day carry pen. With a toothier nib, this pen is ideal for those who like to feel their pen on the paper.

Brian's thoughts:
The Ipsilon writes differently than most other fountain pens you may have used. They're intentionally toothy, meaning that they have a pretty noticeable amount of feedback (resistance) as you write. This is especially the case with the extra-fine and fine nibs, which are actually quite narrow in line width and a little dry. There's a pretty noticeable jump in size between the fine and medium, so if you like wetter/smoother nibs, going with a medium or broad will be the way to go. The italic nib is actually more of a true italic, meaning that the edges are crisper than you typically see coming from any other pen company I've seen (typically, to get italics this crisp you have to get it custom ground). The italic can take some getting used to, so don't despair if you need to practice a bit, it's very sensitive to rotation in your hand. Get the hang of it though and you have a wet and crisp italic like I've seen from no other company!

Aurora Ipsilon Fountain Pen - Green is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to belive this is steel nib! I received this pen yesterday as I decided to get my green on! I opted for the 1.2 mm italic nib and filled it with Diamine Sherwood Green. Although one day is hardly enough time to really get the full effect of the pen I decided to post my amazement at how smooth this nib writes, especially for being italic. Great line variation, smooth flow of ink and the nib just glides over the paper. This particular pen's nib holds me to a pretty strict 45 degree angle when writing which is a good thing as I tend to rotate my pens upward (40, 35, 30 degrees) as I write and I'm trying to break this habit. I have pretty large hands and the pen feels a bit small but when posted it fits perfectly! Also, when properly posted, the cap "clicks" on the barrel and is totally secure and won't fall off no matter what you do to it! It's also a light pen so if you like heavy pens this one may not be for you. I am very happy with the Aurora Ipsilon and would definitely recommend it to anyone who breaking out of the "entry level" fountain pen market and is ready to take the next step in their writing instruments!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Elegant and feels great I bought this pen recently and absolutely love it. I found the ink loading a little more involved than with my LAMY pens, but I'm not that experienced with fountain pens altogether beyond that. With my LAMY I just dunk the pen into the inkwell with the cartridge converter exposed, and twist the little suction thing and it pull up ink through the nib. With the Aurora I had to remove the cartridge entirely and just dip it directly into the ink while I twist and suck it up. It works, so what can I say. Just a little bit of wiping and it's all good. Honestly, this is probably me doing something wrong... Either way, this is one of the nicest pens I've ever written with, and the Extra Fine is actually Extra Fine. I use a Quo Vadis notebook currently and they work amazing together. The clickity mechanism that locks the cap in place is great, and overall I just love this pen. Great looking, great color. This is the most expensive pen I've bought (at about 95$ I think), but I feel like it's worth it. I use it every day and it feels great in my hand and produces a pleasurable experience when writing.
