Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have the same bottle, but older label At first I hated this ink, however I now blame winter on the flow problems I had. Once spring came, I found this ink to flow very well. The biggest fault in my mind is the color itself - a bit dull to me. It also has ZERO water resistance - the ink up and runs off the page instantly, unlike Noodler's Eel which although not waterproof, will at least hang on to the paper for a while, has great flow and gets you double the ink for the same price. Although I personally don't care for this ink, the excellent flow made a non-fountain pen user in my house convert. So that in itself deserves some credit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for Sketching I use a blend of Aurora Blue and Aurora Black (Slightly diluted) in a Noodler's Ahab for sketching, and it is my DREAM combination. It is the most water soluble ink in existence, which makes it perfect for ink and wash, and the blue has undertones of purple, which makes a gorgeous blue-black when they are blended. (I go to great lengths to use exactly the materials I want). The shading is excellent as well. Since I have tried out this combo, it has barely left my hand, but anyone looking for a speck of water resistance will be disappointed. It's wonderful for my purposes, but will not be perfect for all; just keep that in mind and you will be fine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So wet! If you have a dry writing pen, and this ink doesn't work for you...I don't know what will. I have most recently used this in my Montblanc 149 with EF nib, and it is like writing with my finger dipped in the ink. On quality paper it is manageable, as long as you let it dry (takes some time). If you have to ever write on copy paper to fill out forms or the like...forget it. Not a good ink to have in a pen which you use all day on a variety of papers. Also, if a rain drop hits an envelope you have addressed with this ink...you will have a hard time proving the ink was ever there to begin with.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't work well on the paper I've tried. I've seen plenty of enthusiasm for this ink, so I can only assume it's really good on the paper other people use. But it's no good on any of the paper I have used recently. Sure, it's the paper's fault, but Noodler's Black works well on them, so it can be done. I didn't really know what feathering was until I used this ink! Aurora Blue does have qualities I like. The colour is really nice -- that's preference, of course, but objectively, it expresses its colour well -- and when it dries it retains nearly all of its colour rather than appearing washed out. This 2-star review is for its performance on common paper. Please don't take it as a bad review if you know the qualities of the paper you are using. I hope to get great satisfaction from this ink one day when I buy some better paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My desert island ink If I could only have one ink, I would choose this. It is conservative enough for office use, with a slight vividness, a hint of purple in the right light, to make it stand out. And it is also trouble-free in every pen I own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interesting easy blue I use this ink in my journal and while it is not what I expected at all, it is a very interesting blue ink. On every paper stock except for the cheapest paper I can find, it behaves very well. It even behaves With an Eastern Fine (my Jinhao 9009) it has a light almost indigo quality to it and very little if any shading. With my Lamy Safari F or my Jinhao 16 M (which is a very wet writer), it goes down with a little more shading, but it has this almost blue powder quality to it with purple highlights. The best way I can describe it is it looks almost like a powder coated piece of metal before it is baked. It is not washed out, but it does have an odd look to it. I wish I could post some pictures. Cleaning it out is pretty easy and I have even left it in pens for several days and it writes without a problem. It has great flow and I can count on one hand all the times it has skipped in any of my pens. If you are looking for a problem free blue/indigo ink, this is a good choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keep trying other blues and always come back to this I have tried 20 different blue-blacks and blues from Legal Lapis to Baystate blue and always keep finding that my first ink, by coincidence, Aurora blue works best. Certainly has a hint of purple and for me always writes darker than what I see on many images. It is wet but does not spread or feather compared with many other wet blues. Most importantly, I find that it writes a noticeably finer line with my Dupont fine nib than any other ink I have tried on Rhodia paper. Not permanent but so easy to use. -Mike

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Day in, day out, the best blue ink This is the ink I would unhesitatingly choose if I could only have one ink (perish the thought). Great darkish blue moderately saturated color, good shading, no feathering, good flow in most pens. Not the most exciting ink, but the best ink. Buy this today!
