Original Crown Mill Classic Laid 5.75 x 8.25 Tablet - White is rated 4.4286 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect I've been writing on this paper back-to-back with the G. Lalo white. I like that this paper is whiter than the G. Lalo but not WHITE white. I also love that it comes with a ruling sheet to set behind the page you're writing on and act as a guide- such a wonderful inclusion! My only complaint is that it seems to take on ink a little too eagerly for my tastes- I'm constantly in fear that if I pause to consider what I'm writing it will continue to sop up ink from my pen. My line strokes come out bolder than I care for. The G. Lalo has it beat in that regard (I like a fine line) and is a little more measured and consistent with taking ink. Don't misunderstand- the OCM classic laid doesn't bleed or feather in my experience. It just makes my lines a little bolder than I care for. Although I guess I could always switch to an extra-fine nib...?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Fine Quality Paper The thing I like most about this paper (I bought the light blue) is that it doesn't feather as many laid finishes do. It takes whatever you lay down and confines it to the line. I'be been using my new Sargasso Sea ink by Diamine on it and the contrast is stunning. So is DeAtramentis Myrrh, another of my favorite new inks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite paper The paper has just enough tooth to make it a great paper for fountain pens. I tried four different nib/ink combinations. No feathering, no bleed-through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful paper I debated between the G. Lalo and this paper and eventually came down on the side of Original Crown Mill for no particular reason. The laid style (I had to Google that) gives it an appealing look and feel which I prefer to super-smooth paper. It performs really well with my fountain pens, with no feathering at all. Writing on both sides of the page was no problem — no bleedthrough and minimal ghosting. In fact, I almost would have preferred a little more ghosting to help me keep my lines straight on the back side! I'm a lamentably slanty writer so I appreciated the included lined guide sheet, which kept me on the straight and narrow. I will probably sample the G. Lalo paper with my next order just to be able to directly compare the two, but I would be very happy to use OCM as my go-to paper of choice anytime.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Light Pink The baby pink is a lovely color that is feminine without being overly girly. Works well with most fountain pen inks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Nice Paper I've been using this paper for writing letters, and it's nice. It's absorbent enough that ink dries fairly quickly on it, but not so much that ink feathers or bleeds. I can easily write on both sides of the paper. That said, I'm not sure I'll be buying it again. I may need to experiment with some other papers. I like some texture when I write, but the laid paper is perhaps a bit more textured than I wanted. It is still very nice paper, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paper. This is a rich paper which conveys the idea that you care about detail; and the cream color enhances the impression. The faint, "laid" pattern makes it somewhat easier to keep letter sizes consistent, and helps keep lines straight; I find the lined "guide" to be less important than with ordinary stationery. This size is particularly good -- not only for short notes, but it's the correct width to enclose an unfolded check. Combined with the matching (lined) envelopes, this is the perfect paper to send a personal note with payment; or to send the gift of money. Good with almost every color ink; especially good with browns and dark reds (such as Diamine Ancient Copper, Macassar and Oxblood). Perhaps a little too much texture for a very fine nib -- but otherwise the texture doesn't present a challenge to even my "F" obliques. Buy some.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not exactly stub-friendly The Waterman Havana looks just like the perfect match on top of this cream paper. Its rustic character however is not quite what I look for in my stationery. Writing with my beloved stub is not pleasant at all. It feels scratchy and skips a little. I've got a definitely better experience with a normal fine nib, but then the problem was feathering, this time using J.Herbin's Bleu Nuit.
