Noodler's Konrad Flex Fountain Pen - Copernican Pearl

The Konrad flex pen was introduced in early 2012 - it is smaller than the Ahab, but larger than the Nib Creaper. It features a steel flexible #6 nib and a twist piston mechanism with a blind cap. The Konrad is made of a celluloid derivative and is technically biodegradable and formed from a "renewable resource".

The Noodler's flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don't be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen. We recommend watching our video (below) to see how heat-setting the nib/feed can help improve flow issues.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Noodler's Konrad Flex Fountain Pen - Copernican Pearl is rated 3.8571 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pen for the Price All of the Konrad pens are a great deal. They're inexpensive, so they lend themselves to tweaking and fooling around with, they hold a respectable amount of ink, and they're fun. I do like the colour - but I would note that in the photo on the site, it appears to be orange. In person, it's more of a coppery colour. That will probably only matter to you if your favourite colour is orange, and you finally think you've found a good orange pen, but it is worth mentioning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW I love this pen! I received my new Noodler's Konrad in Copernican Pearl today and I just fell in love with the color. Not too orange and too copper. As for the way it writes. All I can say is OUTSTANDING. The nib has some feedback but still writes well without skipping and for only $20.00 how can you go wrong? As with all Noodler's pens, if you flush and clean the nib and feed before inking it up, you should have no problems. As usual Goulet packaging and delivery was also great. This is not my first Goulet purchase and it definitely won't be my last. Thanks

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk This is not a writing instrument. It's a pen-shaped game where you try to see how much time (and ink) you can waste on top of your 20 bucks. If you want a pen to disassemble and play with, this one's as good as any and cheaper than most. If you want a pen to write, look elsewhere.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap This is my second Konrad. On the first one I bendt the tines and could never get it to work. There was a problem with the filler system which was hard to turn. I had to pull it appart and tried to use some parts from the old Konrad to get it to work. It is usable but only just. The Ahab has a simpler and more functional design I think. The material is very sensitive to heat so don?t clean the pen in too hot water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great out of the box! I was pleased to receive my Noodler's Konrad Flex Fountain Pen two days ago. After some internet research I followed some advice and rinsed the pen out with soapy water before filling. Pen works great, the flex is just enough for me to sketch with. Everything was neatly wrapped for protection. Very satisfied and would shop with Goulet Pen Company again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Goood affordable flex Wrote well out of the box with a nice amount of flex. I had a few issues with the filling mechanism that seem to be mostly resolved with a bit of effort. The smell didn't really bother me as it was only faint.
