Noodler's Konrad Flex Fountain Pen - Honey

The Konrad flex pen was introduced in early 2012 - it is smaller than the Ahab, but larger than the Nib Creaper. It features a steel flexible #6 nib and a twist piston mechanism with a blind cap. The Konrad is made of a celluloid derivative and is technically biodegradable and formed from a "renewable resource".

The Noodler's flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don't be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen. We recommend watching our video (below) to see how heat-setting the nib/feed can help improve flow issues.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Noodler's Konrad Flex Fountain Pen - Honey is rated 4.3333 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Pen For the price, this is an amazing deal. It holds a good amount of ink, the nib and feed can be tweaked if you don't like how they write out of the box, and it's a beautiful colour. It's also easy to see how much ink you have left with this pen. Even if you don't like the idea of tweaking it, you'd still have a hard time finding a pen to equal it unless you paid a good deal more. I'm a writer; pens are tools to me (fun tools, I admit) and this is a great tool to have around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just right size for me! I have had three Noodlers' pens so far and while they have been excellent value for me, the sizes weren't quite to my taste. So, I thought to try this one. And it is very good! Not so big as the Ahab but bigger than the Nib Creaper and so is sort of a Goldilocks' pen for me...just right! To be honest, the Honey was not my first color choice but these are inexpensive enough that when the color I want is back in stock I will be happy to get another one. And, I have no qualms about using my favorite ink in these; I like the Baystate Blue and with the low cost of these pens, I'm not worried about any possible staining from this ink. The flex nib has taken me some time to get used to but it writes well and having the varied line width is helpful. This pen is my everyday pen and serves very well for me in that capacity! Rob

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Kinda smelly This pen is pretty, and writes well. Love the ink capacity. Smooth nib, very nice. But the acrylic smells gross. Wish I had listened to the warnings from others, it's true. It's stinky.
