Field Notes Notebooks - Ruled Paper (3-Pack) is rated 3.3333 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice design and form factor, horrible paper. I have a three pack of these and have been using one for my fountain pen ink log. Each time I ink a pen, I jot an entry with the date, pen manufacturer and model, and the ink used. Across the board, every pen and ink used has feathered, bled through, and generally made a mess of the page save for the finest nibs with the driest inks. The paper is so absorbent, it's like trying to write on a paper towel. The only reason I haven't tossed the book in the trash is that it has a record of pens and inks that I refer back to fairly often for comparison purposes. I really wanted to like these books but the low quality, thin, overly absorbent paper makes them inappropriate for fountain pen use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from the paper is somewhat lacking There's a lot to like about these pocket notebooks. The size is convenient, and they are made in the USA, and they've printed some witty and sometimes useful stuff inside the cover. The pages are not perforated (unlike Ecosystem), but that's really a matter of preference. The biggest let-down is the paper, as the sheets are quite thin and fairly absorbent, which makes it "iffy" to write on both sides of the sheet. The only ink I got uniformly good results from was Noodler's Black. On the other hand, drying time was good, which is nice to see in a pocket notebook. I really wanted to like these, but ultimately I'll be carrying and using something with more fountain pen friendly paper.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What is the Hype? I have seen so much hype about Field Notes but I must not have used enough to get it yet. It is a so so product since it only has stapled edges. I would think an American product would take some pride and stitch the spine. I thought I had read in a description somewhere that they were stitched. I think the Arctic series may be nice with the waterproof, tearproof may be a neat thing but I have seen nicer notebooks for much less. Nothing against Goulet, you guys just sell it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Field Notes WHO is not using these things? Not much more I can say about them, they're brilliant. They're not particularly fp proof though, but fab with G2s or other gels.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was a gift One of my grandsons was going on an eighteen day in Wyoming and I wanted him to document his experience. These notebooks were to help him to do that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good little books Nifty - I don't know if they are my favorite, but I'm all for trying new things.
