Caran d'Ache Idyllic Blue (50ml Bottled Ink) is rated 4.777777777777778 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blue Stunner! I received a sample of this lovely ink. I filled my Lamy Studio that has an 18K fine point with it, and immediately sensed the wonderful pairing of pen and ink. I love how the ink just flows from the nib and glides along the surface of the paper. It does not feather or bleed through on my Midori paper, but does have minimal bleed through on cheaper notebook paper. While it does take just a tad longer to dry - 8-10 seconds - it does have lovely shading, even in a fine point. This is definitely not permanent, as it does was away easily leaving just a light blue ghost. All in all, this is the exceptional ink that you would expect given the very high price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eye-popping blue! In a fit of momentary insanity, I ordered a bottle (vs sample) the first day or two after this one became available. The sample was so gorgeous, I couldn't help myself. :) To my utter surprise, I was blown away by the result: an eye-popping blue that flows like a dream onto any paper I have in front of me (TWSBI medium nib). So far, no smears. I wasn't in the market for a new blue ink, but I think I've found a new must. A true pleasure, both performance and color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey but oh so sweet. My new daily go to ink for my Lamy 2000. A dedicated Kon-Peki user, I wanted something darker. Flows beautifully and exhibits more shading in a Lamy EF nib (admittedly a F by anyone else's standards) than any ink I've used previously. Easy clean up. Only downside is price but I love the ink so much, I really don't care. As for the purchase, typical Goulet Pen quality...packaged beautifully, arrived safely. Great ink from a great company!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Judging an Ink by its Bottle? While there is nothing terribly disappointing about the new Idyllic Blue ink - there's nothing truly exciting about it, other than its fantastic packaging. This is your garden variety blue, nothing to interesting, classic blue - nothing to write home about...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another superb dark blue I bought this bottle about a month ago, after trying out a different Caran D'ache ink. At first I saw the swab and thought it would be identical to Asa-Gao from Pilot. This ink is totally different. The swab doesn't do it justice. It may go down on paper as a blue leaning towards the purple side of the spectrum.....it dries as a navy blue color. It's a superb writer if you can deal with the long dry time....like other Caran d'Ache inks, it makes the most ink picky pen work wonderfully.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely color I took a gamble on this ink, since it is kind of pricey. It paid off. The sample on this site looks a little weak, but it's much nicer than it appears here. Great vibrant color with some shading, perfect flow and quite manageable. Not waterproof, but some water resistance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The title of the ink says it all So, the packaging and especially the bottle, is a work of art! But beyond all that, I returned to this ink recently after having it used once a long while back in an 'F' point pilot and having dismissed it as too pale. This time, I filled it in an 'F' tipped Al- star and it was pure joy. The ink is silky smooth, but what absolutely grabs you is the color. If there were a color to describe tranquility - this must be it - and that is when the aptness of the name of this shade struck me. I comparison tested this against against one of my standards of pure blue - the visconti blue and this ink handily beats it in terms of smoothness, shading and the intangible joy of 'putting down ink on paper and then reveling in its beauty'. Sure it is ridiculously pricy, but a thing of beauty it sure is - and the price premium will disappear when you amortize the joy you will receive over the life of this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful bottle, but the ink is just as good! I admit I bought this ink only for the bottle, but I was very pleasantly surprised! The bottle - apart from the very interesting shape of the bottle, it is a nice, sturdy and heavy bottle, and the cap is heavy and styrdy as well, appears to be made of metal. It comes in a very nice, thick hexagonal box, the whole thing is a beauty! The ink - it is a very nice, middle-to-dark, solid, professional looking blue, not much shading but a consistent color, and I think this is preferable in some circumstances to shading ink. It has excellent behavior. It does not feather even on mega-cheap news-paper type paper, and has minimal bleed-through even on this. No bleed-through on Rhodia. It flows very well, and the pen glides on the paper. I deliberately tried it in a pen that is a bit scratchy, and therefore only used with Iroshizuku inks as they compensate for that. The pen worked almost as well as with an Iro ink. All this makes it a perfect every day ink, if you are willing to pay the extra.
