Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Ink I bought this some time ago and keep coming back to it. I love the changing color from a bright blue to the blue/black that settles out after drying. The ink is professional, so can be used at work. I don't experience any bleed-through on cheap copy paper or steno pad at work with only a little show through on the steno pad. I've been using the Delta Unica fine nib most recently, but have also used this in a VP medium and fine, Lamy fine, and a few others. Great flow in all the pens. The Iroshizuku line is great to begin with - I've tried 7 different colors and would recommend them to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My New Go To Ink I could not wait and ordered some of this ink from Japan. It was a wise decision. This ink is smooth and looks beautiful on the page. It is a very dark blue. It flows amazing in all of my pens. I could not be happier. I will be ordering more from the Goulet's when it arrives in stock. This is a must have ink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior Blue-Black with Excellent Shading I discovered Iroshizuku Shin-Kai looking for a replacement for S.T. Dupont?s Blue Black (encre bleu nuit) ink, which S.T. Dupont has discontinued. The Iroshizuku inks perform exceptionally well in S.T. Dupont pens. Indeed, Iroshizuku inks actually perform better in S.T. Dupont medium and broad nibs than S.T. Dupont ink. Although there are other blue-black inks that more closely resemble S.T. Dupont encre bleu nuit (Diamine Blue-Black, for example), Iroshizuku Shin-Kai is an excellent substituted for S.T. Dupont encre bleu nuit. Like other Iroshizuku inks, Shin-Kai performs remarkably well in S.T. Dupont pens. Shin-Kai will now be my standard blue-black type ink for my S.T. Dupont pens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great colour & service! This is my first fountain pen and ink purchase. Loved the service from Goulet, and could not be more pleased with the Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-kai - Deep Sea ink. I was looking for a blue-black ink, did a little research, and found people recommending this as their favourite blue-black ink. I'm very happy with the colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried a sample?bought the bottle. Awesome. I bought a sample of this fairly soon after Brian's video on this ink. I love the color change; it comes out almost a deep royal blue on the page, then fades to a grayer blue. Very distinctive, fund to work with. It behaves extremely well on every paper I've tried, too. I recently got my first Vanishing Point, and I got a bottle of this to accompany it. I don't know if I'll ever put another ink in this pen again; it's easily my favorite I've ever used. I'm also a fan of Noodler's 54th MA, PR Tanzanite, and Diamine Syrah, if that helps anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soothing deep blue The more I use this ink, the more I like how it takes on different personalities in different pens. In a TWSBI 580 ex-fine, it dries as other commentors have mentioned -- a soft blue-grey. In my vanishing point ex-fine, it's still a lovely blue-grey, but a bit darker. In both cases, it flows wonderfully with no issues experienced so far. Before trying this ink, I used to want a blue that was pure blue, or a red that was pure red. But now I'm beginning to appreciate and want an ink with subtle character in shading and hue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from UF Compliant For those of you that need to use that UF nib in a professional setting, this ink will fit the bill. I find that Noodler's 54th (similar color) which is one of my favorites in F and M will not maintain the same feel at the UF level (still good with Jowo EF and Lamy EF, but looses lubrication/flow when the line becomes thinner than that). Shin Kai and Sailor BB are the two Blue-Blacks that stand up to the UF nib... and being from Japan, I would expect that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for business The one character that I love about Iroshizuku inks is how some morph into something just a tad different than anyone else's. This is no exception, writes blue, dries blue gray. A softer more pleasing tone than a harsh dark Blue/black. Very appropriate for business, cream, white, off white stationary. Behaves like Iroshizuku was made to perform.
