The Nib Creaper (also known as the "Standard Flex Pen") was the first fountain pen produced by Noodler's, introduced in 2010, and is Noodler's smallest and slimmest fountain pen. It features a steel flexible #2 nib and a twist piston mechanism. A small ink window shows how much ink is left in your pen. These pens are made from a celluloid derivative.

The Noodler’s flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don’t be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, expect some variation in the pattern from what you see here. But hey, that just makes each pen unique!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

absolutely recommended May 18, 2013
Reviewer: "Bokks" from Connecticut
I have been eyeing the Noodler's flex pens with interest since I first discovered Goulet, and finally decided to try out a pen by ordering a Creaper.

With style, I love the look of Vulcan's Coral. It's a very solid pen and while it is thin and light, it's by no means insubstantial.

With function, the pen is an absolute value. I had been wary from the videos Brian Goulet made saying that cleaning needs to be done, and that a dud here or there isn't anything to be surprised by, so I got a little nervous... but absolutely didn't need to. Just like the videos show, cleaning for the first use is simple and doesn't take very long. Positioning the nib and feed is very simple, practically just stick it in. And loading the pen; it practically inks itself. It's interesting to note that as you twist the piston away from the body, the piston twists into the pen, to expel ink.

Packaging and service is beyond top notch, if you haven't tried Goulet Pens, do it. It's something to be proud of.

I smacked an arc off that learning curve! April 17, 2013
Reviewer: Melodie McLellan from Austin, Texas
This pen came today, and seduced me away from my afternoon. Black Swan in Australian Roses. After watching the video on adjusting the nib, I jumped in. My pen quirk : I print.  96% of my penning is printing, and I love the tap and drag of a nib. (It gives additional depth to the phrase 'Creative tension'.) I like that there's not much I can do to this pen that I can't fix. I like the ink stains on my fingers. Get one of these and work on your pen cred.

Great color and nice flex April 9, 2013
Reviewer: Joslyn Lawrence from Des Plaines, IL United States
The color on this pen is great.  The red is a nice, deep red.  My boss saw this one and immediately tried to steal it.  The flex nib is nice to have.  Really for the price you cannot get anything even close to this.  I enjoy the piston filling and the ability to disassemble and clean my pen.

nib creaper January 19, 2013
Reviewer: arjen from Toronto, ON Canada
Neat little pen. Light, maybe a bit to small for me (big hands). Ink capacity is decent, but can go through it pretty quickly, depending on how you're using the pen (and flex nib).
I've only used it with one ink so far (J. Herbin Rouge Opéra) and have no problems with ink flow when writing normally. When using more flex it can skip/ railroad if going really quickly, but works fine using slower strokes.
A note about the smell (since people have mentioned it on other Noodlers pens): the Vulcan's Coral has a very subtle sweet smell that is really quite pleasant.

Learning Curve December 27, 2012
Reviewer: Theodore Obourn from Rushville, NY United States
This is a tough pen to review. It takes some practice to make the most of it, and some adjustments to the nib and feeder. I can't say that I've gotten it where I want it, but it's coming. I found the instructional video invaluable and would highly recommend it. I think this pen would be great in the hands of someone more graphically adept than I am. I love the feel of the pen and the ink flow, I just haven't learned to control the latter yet. I can get a nice thick line and a very fine line but haven't yet managed to make the transition from one to the other quickly enough to produce a satisfying varied-line-length letter. It's so inexpensive, thought, that you really can't go wrong. For the price, it's well worth the experimentation.
