The Konrad flex pen was introduced in early 2012 - it is smaller than the Ahab, but larger than the Nib Creaper. It features a steel flexible #6 nib and a twist piston mechanism with a blind cap. The Konrad is made of a celluloid derivative and is technically biodegradable and formed from a "renewable resource".

The Noodler's flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don't be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen. We recommend watching our video (below) to see how heat-setting the nib/feed can help improve flow issues.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Don't give up prematurely on this pen! October 14, 2014

If it wasn't for your instructional videos this could have been a much lower rated review. I'd watched your videos before I placed my order and so didn't panic when the pen 'lost it's lunch' all over the paper towel I'd laid out. After thermosetting the nib and letting it cool I refilled and tried again... It worked! Fantastic pen for the price, and it out-perfomed the Ahab I purchased with it.

Not my favorite, but okay March 4, 2014

Inked it up, started writing - no flex used, just simple writing w/ no pressure - and it emptied the ink all over my paper. Haven't given it another shot but it will likely stay in a drawer.

Konrad Mars Pearl June 2, 2013
Reviewer: David from West Virginia
The Konrad & Nib Creaper pens were part of my first order from Gouletpens. The pens and inks I ordered arrived quickly and nicely packaged. It had been a while since I had ordered any Noodler's ink and I was surprised to learn Noodler's was now also making pens. I was anxious to try them out. I like the design of this pen. Nice shape and size. Nice color too. Cool ink sight window. Easy to disassemble for cleaning. Fiddling with the nib and feed is part of the fun of these pens. I find it likes a different setting with different inks. I like the larger diameter of the Konrad compared to the Creaper pen. The only thing I don't like, and this is probably just a personal thing with how I hold the pen, but I find my fingers end up griping the pen over the cap threads on the body of the pen and the threads digging into my fingers becomes annoying after a long session of writing. That being said. I like the Konrad enough that I have ordered a second one - adding 2 Ahab pens to the 2nd order.
