The Konrad flex pen was introduced in early 2012 - it is smaller than the Ahab, but larger than the Nib Creaper. It features a steel flexible #6 nib and a twist piston mechanism with a blind cap. The Konrad is made of a celluloid derivative and is technically biodegradable and formed from a "renewable resource".

The Noodler's flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don't be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen. We recommend watching our video (below) to see how heat-setting the nib/feed can help improve flow issues.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Nice flex...while it worked June 16, 2014
Reviewer: Martin Leblanc from Longueuil, QC Canada
Had to revise my review after using the pen for a while. This being a flex pen, I changed colour in it quite a bit, and doing that meant disassembling the pen for cleaning.
The problem I ran into, problem which makes the pen now completely useless, is that every time i pulled and reinserted the nib and feed for cleaning, I had to push a little deeper so that it held in place with no leaking, indicating that the section(which has an extremely thin wall) material was stretching.
I now would have to push the assembly so far in that the pen is useless, won't flex anymore and has inkflow problems. Which means I paid 20 buck to write about 15 pages, which makes the cost per page insanely high. I won't be buying any more of noodler's pen, can't afford the cost per pages.

The real flexible nib and the material of this pen are surprising, especially compared to their price.

Cool! March 28, 2014
Reviewer: Scott McCallister from Aurora, CO United States
I got this pen along with a Goulet 1.1mm two tone stub to put in it.  What a beautiful combination!  It looks great.  I get lot's of compliments on this pen.  It is a bit of a gusher tho.  The feed was cut a little weird on this particular pen.  The air vents along the ribs of the feed were cut into the ink channel allowing them fill with ink making this pen too wet for me.  I filled the openings to the vents with some bees wax and that helped a lot.  This is really a great writer but still lays down so much ink that I can get DC Supershow Blue to sheen on cheap copier paper.  The fact that this is a user serviceable pen leaves me feeling that I'll get it adjusted just where I like it eventually, though, so overall I am quite happy with this pen.
