The Nib Creaper (also known as the "Standard Flex Pen") was the first fountain pen produced by Noodler's, introduced in 2010, and is Noodler's smallest and slimmest fountain pen. It features a steel flexible #2 nib and a twist piston mechanism. A small ink window shows how much ink is left in your pen. These pens are made from a celluloid derivative.

The Noodler’s flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don’t be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Loving it! April 6, 2013

It's really quite a fun pen to use! The threading is so smooth, that I find it pleasant just to uncap and recap. It's easy to fill with ink, and easy to adjust the nib.  I find that, depending on the ink, you may have to adjust your feed accordingly. (Heart of Darkness was 5 fins out; Tsuki-Yo, maybe 6 fins out for my preference).

If anyone thought this was a 'nail', it could be that they had the nib pushed in too far. It smelled like an open tool box at first (not totally unpleasant). But now it smells kind of sweet. Weird. I'm loving this pen. It's really quite fun to use.

Total Flex noob :) March 26, 2013
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from District Heights, MD
I like it! At first I was apprehensive about getting a flex nib pen, especially a Noodler's one, because of the love/hate it gets, also cuz I'm a lefty (didn't know if that was a factor-turns out it's not), I wasn't comfortable with the thought of tinkering with the pen, &I have no experience with flex nibs. But I like it. It's quite fun to use.
As soon as I got it, I took it apart&cleaned it with dish soap&an old toothbrush, rinsed it out & let it dry, so it'd have no excuses for not writing properly other than my needing to adjust the nib- which took me maybe two or three tries to get it how I liked (super easy!).
I made it so my feed was 5 indents in, &the nib was in up to where the times begin to separate (if that makes sense). I also thought it helped to not right at such a high angle if you want to keep it from "railroading".
The gray body was slightly darker than I expected, but it's all good. Doesn't feel flimsy. I plan on getting another one so I don't have to switch ink.

Noodler's Creaper flex October 27, 2012

At this price these pens could easily form a rainbow of daily writers for cost conscious fountain pen fans.  With their flexible nibs, light weight and ample reservoirs, Noodler's can provide the user with a variety of day after day of ink and pen colors. Wash these pens before using to remove any faint traces of manufacturing lublicants. It improves the ink flow noticeably.
