The Nib Creaper (also known as the "Standard Flex Pen") was the first fountain pen produced by Noodler's, introduced in 2010, and is Noodler's smallest and slimmest fountain pen. It features a steel flexible #2 nib and a twist piston mechanism. A small ink window shows how much ink is left in your pen. These pens are made from a celluloid derivative.

The Noodler’s flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don’t be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Perfect for drawing! December 10, 2012
Reviewer: Mary Redmon from Greensboro, NC United States
I bought this specifically for drawing and sketching; I like to sketch with dip pens, but got tired of how quickly the nibs ran out of ink and wanted to switch to a pen with an internal ink reservoir as well as a flexible nib. I did lots of research on fountain pens and was disappointed at how little flex most of the modern ones have, and the price of vintage "wet noodles" made me cringe. Discovering Noodler's pens was like a miracle--an affordable, modern pen with a flexible nib! Perfect!

I've used it for a month now and I love it. The Creaper is absolutely fantastic for drawing. It's comparable to my Zebra G-pen in terms of line width variation, and it's actually much less scratchy! I didn't think I'd love a single pen more than my fancy manga nibs, but it's such a joy to use that I've even started writing down comic and story ideas by hand, something I used to do entirely on the computer. It's a very versatile pen, and it's become my absolute favorite out of all my drawing tools.

Noodler's Nib Creaper Flex fountain pen November 26, 2012
Reviewer: Robert P. from Toronto, ON Canada
This pen works well with Noodler's ink as well as Private Reserve. The line written at a faily quick pace was smooth with very little skipping or blobbing. The pen is more suitable for persons with small hands.

Great entry-level pen November 16, 2012
Reviewer: Cristi from Redmond , WA United States
This is my first fountain pen, and you really can't beat it for the price. I am a big fan of the flex nib, and this pen writes so smoothly. Will definitely be adding more of these to my fledgling collection!

Good pen, but small October 29, 2012
Reviewer: Joe Fiechtl from Staunton, VA United States
This pen is a nice pen, but I have large hands so it was hard to use. It was the perfect pen for my 11 year old to have her first fountain pen though!

Nice try but no cigar October 24, 2012
Reviewer: Chris from Las Vegas
I bought this pen on a lark with some ink.  Although I received great service from Brian and Rachel, I found the pen to be too scratchy and stiff to be a good flex pen.  After some attempts to adjust the nib, I ended up just tossing it.
