The Nib Creaper (also known as the "Standard Flex Pen") was the first fountain pen produced by Noodler's, introduced in 2010, and is Noodler's smallest and slimmest fountain pen. It features a steel flexible #2 nib and a twist piston mechanism. A small ink window shows how much ink is left in your pen. These pens are made from a celluloid derivative.

The Noodler’s flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don’t be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

A small black gem March 30, 2013
Reviewer: Michael Swisher from Charlotte, NC United States
These are terrific little pens. They are slender but comfortable – notebook-sized. The pen wrote well (after the usual flush & brush for the feed) with just enough flex to make for an expressive line. They make fine daily pens.
I bought two Creapers, one black and one red. I took them apart and switched out the components to make two red & black pens. I buffed both with polishing compound and they look quite fancy.

Noodler's Nib Creaper January 28, 2013
Reviewer: Peter Fischer ml. from Svaty jur, Svaty Jur Slovakia
Very nice and practical pen whether for everyday use or time to time calligraphy, It could be little bigger. What made me little nervous was that the pen stinks pretty much when new. After couple of weeks it is ok.

Fantastic January 23, 2013
Reviewer: William Musa from Central City Philadelphia PA
Have had Noodler's basic piston filled pens for a while, then one basic flex in Cardinal darkness.  Something went odd with it after a while.
The black just looks sleek.  It functioned perfectly out of the box.  Love this pen.  It handles a lot of inks.  I have been writing with it for a while (I ordered it beginning of school year).  Since I ordered this pen I have used a lot of blue inks (just wanted to change things up).  I recommend Platinum pigmented blue, looks fantastic and shades beautifully, dare call it a blue black if you will... but it is super resistant to water and wear as well as almost never bleeding through the yellow legal pads a I dribbled my ideas on to.

An Unexpected Treat. December 5, 2012
Reviewer: Jay Robinson from Foley, AL United States
I bought this on a whim, in conjunction with another item. Even if it was so - so, it was the equivalent of buying 3 Pilot Varsity disposables that I had eaten through in the previous 2 months. (Don't ask....)
Am I glad that I took the chance. This is an incredible pen. It worked correctly out of the box; flexible, smooth, lovely. After watching Brian's video on making adjustments to the nib and feed, oh wow! I fell even deeper in love. Does it have the flexibility of a dip pen? Not really, but I couldn't possibly use a dip pen in my day to day. This makes expressive daily writing within easy reach.
My only gripe is the size of the pen. It's a bit small for my hand, so extensive writing sessions seem to leave me cramped. (I think after this experience I am going to be setting my sights on an Ahab.)
I love this pen. You should buy one, you won't regret it.

Noodler's Nib Crreaper flex fountain pen - black November 29, 2012
Reviewer: James Sargent from Cincinnati, OH United States
The pen allows for creative handwriting at very modest cost.  Personally, I would appreciate a more flexible nib. However, I also write in italic with a fine, squared nib (Parker International, fine italic nib) and realize that not everyone has the 'hand' for a more sensitive / flexible pen.  That having been said, I do appreciate the range of what the Nib Creaper can do.
So, you want to know, will I be ordering other products from you? I'm not sure yet.
thank you,
james sargent
