Glass dip pen March 4, 2012
Reviewer: Robert Williams from Fairfax, SC United States
Love the glass dip pen for testing new inks instead of inking up a pen and not liking the color or how the ink flows.

A bit tough to get used to, but a great experience January 13, 2012
Reviewer: Michael from Tulsa, OK United States
I got this pen, as well as J. Herbin's Vert RŽsŽda, several months ago and immediately regretted spending the money on it. It was scratchy, required constant dipping to maintain a consistent line, and would gush like crazy every few dips.

I experimented and learned, and today I can say I'm glad I bought it, but I still wouldn't want to write for hours with it.

Things to consider:

It's very thin, too thin for comfort (for me).

The nib will probably require some sanding for the scratchiness.

Use GOOD paper. Cheap notebook paper will cause gushing and inconstancy.

Use thicker ink. J. Herbins Vert RŽsŽda is a very "wet" ink. That didn't help the gushing problem.

Buy it knowing those things and you'll be a lot happier with the pen.

Needs Smoothing December 20, 2011
Reviewer: Deb from Alaska
I bought this glass dip pen for sampling new inks.
It needed smoothing and I was never able to get it right myself. I think I made it worse...
Other than that, it works great for testing sample inks.

Good for testing inks December 9, 2011
Reviewer: Norman Lee from Berkeley, CA United States
While the best way to see how an ink would perform in your pen would obviously be to fill the pen with it, it can be a pretty time-consuming process to try more than two or three in a row. This makes it easy to get a reasonable look at how an ink looks on paper, beyond doing q-tip swabs of it. Writing is a bit scratchy if you don't sand down the nib, and it's tricky to get ample, consistent flow (particularly for thin inks), but it's a pretty good way of trying and comparing inks.

love it. November 8, 2011
Reviewer: Gerald Taylor from Toronto, Canada
I know I'm giving everything I buy from GPC five stars but hey--it really is great stuff and I did my research before I ordered it.  If you don't already have a glass dip pen, you probably need one.
