Nice color, but not my favorite blue! March 6, 2013
Reviewer: Kyle from San Diego, CA United States
This ink performs nicely on all types of paper, with no feathering, bleed-through, or ghosting. I tend to prefer Iroshizuku Shin-Kai for a dark blue, as it is my favorite blue-black.

Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite January 26, 2013

One of the best: good flow, dries fast, just the right saturation -- good color, but no bleed-through.  Dries darker, loses nuance.  Color almost identical to Sheaffer Skrip blue-black of 1940's and '50's, but dries less green.  Ranks with Aurora blue as a trustworthy, standard ink, but ought to cost about the same.

Solid blue-black October 8, 2012

This is a great replacement for the Lamy blue-black cartridges I started off with--more substantial but still subdued.

Beautiful ink with a wonderful feel July 28, 2012
Reviewer: foiled-again from VA
This is one of those colors that I just love immediately--a dark purple-y blue that really grabs me, not because it's so saturated but just because it is truly gorgeous and different than most other colors out there. The closest ink in color that I've tried is Noodler's Kung Te Cheng, but that's a bit more purple and lot more saturated--and of course a consequence of the saturation is that KTC has almost no shading, while Tanzanite has *gorgeous* shading.

If you are looking for a lovely shading dark purplish blue I'd definitely get the sample. Given the price of the bottle I have to admit I haven't taken the plunge for the bottle yet, but the sample was well worth trying. (and has given me hopes of mixing a similar ink with the much cheaper Organics Studio "Manganate V" and "Cobalt")

Different Than Others, Excellent By Itself May 26, 2012
Reviewer: Wallace Welch from Navarre, FL United States
Not a purple, but a restructuring of the Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black that fixes all the problems that had.  Here we get a consistent, instant ink flow, great smoothness, and wonderful result in a perfectly behaved Blue-Black.
