Extended Information:
Located in the Vosges region of France, Clairefontaine was established on the site of a 16th century paper mill. The Clairefontaine mill has been making paper since 1858 and stationery products since 1890. The River Meurthe supplies the water for Clairefontaine's Vosges mill. The water is so clean when it leaves their high performance biological treatment station that local people can fish, swim and boat downstream within sight of the manufacturing facility. The company is best known for being the first school stationery manufacturer in France. All Clairefontaine notebook paper is 90g, acid-free, pH neutral for archival quality.

A good notebook, but not ideal. February 16, 2010
Reviewer: Tom
First off, let me say that this is an excellent notebook.  The paper is smooth and accepts ink well.  The uncommon French ruling acts as guide for indenting, subheadings and the like, resulting in very neat notes.  It is a good compromise between graph paper and traditional lined paper.  If you have not been fortunate enough to try this system, you really owe it to yourself.

The downside of this notebook is the clothbinding.  The binding is too strong to allow one to fold the cover back on itself, so you really need a good deal of room to use this notebook.  I find the notebook also has an awkward number of pages, more than enough for 1 class, but not quite enough for 2 classes.  With no way to remove pages, this creates some waste.  These are just my personal peeves though, the notebook itself is well made and a great value.
